Clemsk45 ![]() | Gérard Krawczyk who filmed some Part of the first one - and directed Taxi 2-3-4 explained that he had bought one of the 500 of the film, and he say that the car had big suspension problems and a big mileage. After he bought it, the 500 was stolen on the set. He explains this in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySnkJXZqQYU , unfortunately it's in French, you have to understand French. and in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OadDD_bFxt4 at 1:55 they show one of the basic w124 used for stunt/crash In the first movie and also used in a scene from Taxi 2 -- Last edit: 2023-04-19 09:21:40 |

Clemsk45 ![]() | There were some real 500E on the set, and of course some w124 used for Stunts/Crash were basic w124. one was used as a camera car in a lot of movies, and fun fact one of the 500 was used in his Taxi movie configuration a few months later on the set of the film Ronin for tow robert de niro's peugeot 406 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1k8c7hXLJo and after that they painted it in black and used it for 10 years straight. -- Last edit: 2023-04-19 09:22:05 |

AleX_DJ ![]() | Very difficult to tell, as explained by tore-40 body kits are available, only by feel I'm suspecting the red ones are not genuine, while the silver ones seem more likely ![]() |

steeeel ![]() | honestly till i have seen the article in this 2000 year OPTION french magasine,i had no idea they are 500 ![]() |

dhill_cb7 ![]() | More than likely a Fast and Furious scenario way before that movie was filmed. I believe the black civics had 7 used for filming. All different trim levels and years. All made to look alike. Very possible this film did the same and grabbed a bunch of W124, dressed some up, and possibly used a genuine version. Without plate details I wouldn’t add a model name as specific as we have listed. *However, I have not studied the W124 so my knowledge is as good as your average joe.* |

tore-40 ![]() | It's unlikely they used 500Es for all the cars, there were body kit available for a fraction of the price. The numberplates are swapped among cars, headlamps are some 500E and some regular ones, fogs are not always present, some panels are badly fitted. No inside view? It's movie magic, they make us see what they want us to. Or hear. I'm not even sure the main car is genuine. @AleX_DJ or @dhill_cb7 - what do you think? |
2023-03-04 15:12 | ||
tore-40 ![]() | @steeeel: They were meant to be sleepers, so the question is indeed relevant. Most obvious are the wheel arches, they are wider than the original. I addition, their opening when viewed from the side is also rounder than original. Please check again, I hope this will help you. |

AleX_DJ ![]() | Yes there are several possibilities indeed, but I believe SL is the safest one. In this case, a 60 SL because it was the only SL sold in France in 1988-89 |
2022-03-25 12:41 | ||
Bux_48 ![]() | Yes, rear wheelcover is from an SL. Back then I had the impression that late S for export had full wheelcovers, then I corrected that but this one slipped anyway, could still be an S with lost front hubcap and rear one from a SL, but better to list it as 1987 SL ![]() |

Lorex ![]() | hi guys, i saw that many of you would like to make a replica of these mercedes, just like me. now below I put some links where you can find the material needed to build your w124 taxi 1 500E body kit. you can find them on various sites: https://mbbodykits.com/collections/w124/products/w124-e500-widebodykit white side marker lights (for red w124 on the film): you can find it on internet Wheels. The rims on the film are Dial triomphe, and you can find it on this site: http://www.nashashina.com.ua/diski/dial/dial_triomphe.html remember! the wheels in the film were 16 inches (i think) Rear spoiler!!! to find this spoiler I really searched everywhere. and i found that it can be found on some peugoet 406 bodykits! https://www.comptoirdutuning.fr/406-995/spoiler-av-pe-406-quartz-81295.html https://www.comptoirdutuning.fr/406-995/spoiler-av-pe-406-lucifer-81292.html https://www.comptoirdutuning.fr/406-995/jupe-ar-pe-406-lucifer-81293.html https://www.comptoirdutuning.fr/406-995/jupe-ar-pe-406-quartz-81296.html https://www.comptoirdutuning.fr/406-995/spoiler-av-pe-406coupe-2l-f-81361.html really very very similar to those of the film. or maybe it's them well guys, i should be done. if any of you were to make one of these 2 cars, write me here in the forum and send your photos, I'm really curious see you next time!🤗 -- Last edit: 2021-09-09 23:47:01 |

White Atheist ![]() | The wheels are the Dial Concorde. | 2021-02-09 07:47 | ||
White Atheist ![]() | The wheels are the Triomphe model. They were manufactured by Dial in France, and it appears that they were distributed in the USA by König. I am unable to find any other source from the 1990s. Dial's inactive website (jantes-dial.com) and its archived pages do not have anything related to this model.
