clefebvre ![]() | This action footage was filmed in may 1953 at the very first stock car race in France. It was held at the Buffalo Stadium (demolished in 1955), in Montrouge, a suburb 2 miles south of Paris. Most of the big cars belonged to Belgian guys who came all the way from Belgium using the highway. After the races (and obviously lots of fun), they left the wrecks in the pits and went back to Belgium driving the surviving cars. | 2016-01-08 23:40
clefebvre ![]() | Definitely a 1934 V8-40 (shape of grill and dual hood handles are the giveaways). Number painted on the roof is the licence plate number. In these early times of French stock car racing, the jalopies would use normal traffic go to the races, and (at least) the number was mandatory. Pic probably taken on the bank of the Seine river, in downtown Paris or close suburb. | 2016-01-08 23:34
chris40 ![]() | Oh m**** ... the thumbnail is the 1950 coupé, not the main picture which is certainly a 1953+ sedan.
| 2013-11-12 15:36
chris40 ![]() | I think it's a Vedette coupé, possibly earlier: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ford_Vedette_Coup%C3%A9_1950.jpg | 2013-11-12 15:03

| 2013-04-09 18:35

chris40 ![]() | The only thing that might make me wonder is the size of the headlights. Austins of this era (say 1937+) would have two-piece rear windows, and Humbers with split screens wouldn't have protruding boots. It's almost certainly American but I don't know what. | 2012-10-13 20:15
