As long as people are willing to pay for it they will

dsl SXFrom https://cazana.com/uk/car/C650XLO - "This 1985 Rolls-Royce on numberplate C650 XLO was first registered on 23 December 1985 near London NW. It had been previously registered under 99 BXH. This vehicle had 9 previous owners before the current keeper acquired it. It was painted blue/blue previously.
November 2011 Numberplate change 99 BXH to C650 XLO
February 2007 Numberplate change C650 XLO to 99 BXH
"

DVLA has C650 XLO as black Rolls-Royce, untaxed since Nov 2012. However DVLA MOT calls it a Bentley Brooklands with otherwise same dates/details, and it had done 100,661 miles at the last MOT test in November 2011, Pass with just one advisory for "near side rear wheel cover rattling".

johnfromstaffs ENOld money = Bentley but only pre German takeover.
New money, footballists, arrivistes, war profiteers, Royal family, = Rolls-Royce, or modern Bentley.

You will, of course, be aware of my choice of vehicle.

G-MANN UKI think I've found a match: Link to "www.classic-auctions.com" (a Jankel conversion)

99BXH (obviously a cherished plate) is now on a Range-Rover, perhaps C650XLO was its original registration.

G-MANN UKNow I know how the dashboard design changed over the years (and for different models) I can say this wouldn't have been a Turbo R originally because that never had those digital clocks, only the Mulsanne and Mulsanne Turbo did. And it is indeed a 1985 model because the digital display was redesigned and chrome knobs were added to the dash. Howver since there's no sign of any Bentley logo between the digital clocks, so I think this probably was a Rolls as Hpi says. The rear doors are LWB so assuming the front and rear came from the same car, that would make this a Silver Spur.

chris40 wrote I've never heard of RR to Bentley, there doesn't seem much point.

Although this is listed under Rolls-Royce, that might possibly be an error. HPI Check gives the year as 1985. The dashboard may provide some clues, this looks like it has the non-airbag steering wheel from the earlier models. This also has a name plate behind the front wheel arch.

Neptune USI’m wondering if it’s a factory Ford Expedition EL fleet class vehicle designated for limousine conversion and not simply a civilian Ford Expedition EL that has been stretched. There are major differences in the two.

Among some of the notable differences, no SafetyCanopy side-curtain air bags, and its the only Expedition that is still fitted with a rear Traction-lok limited-slip differential (LSD) post 2006. This is due to the fact that they do not have, nor are they available with AdvanceTrac electronic stability control and electric traction control.

ford_guy USThese types of limos serve their purpose. As G-MANN pointed out, their larger interior makes them more comfortable and ideal for larger parties, especially since many are targeted at the teenage demographic (proms, birthday parties, etc.) So they certainly do have practical uses, no matter how ridiculous they may look at times. 2011-05-22 12:58
