Gag Halfrunt UKFrom Wikipedia:
Quote Buick Skylarks were assembled in Iran (4-door models only) from 1977-1981 and again from 1986-88 under the brand name of "Buick Iran". The first generations were known as B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, from 1977 until 1981 and the second and last generation was known as the B2 and B3 from 1986 until 1988. The later models were made after GM released the kits and parts to Iran following the release of the 53 hostages held in captivity until 1981. These bullet-made cars were equipped with a 5.7L engine(SB 350 chevrolet ,L engine,4BBL), and were fullly-equipped (power door locks, power window, power steering, automatic transmission,a/c). The Cadillac Seville and Chevrolet Nova were manufactured in Iran during the same period. A total of 40,000 GM cars were produced between 1977-1987 in Iran. It appears that these models were basically the same as those built in the U.S. from 1975-1979 (Islamic Revolution). It is said that in 1978, the Iranian Chevrolet Nova and Buick Skylark cars had order backlogs of 13 months.

GM Iran changed its name to "Pars Khodro" after 1979. The production continued from 1979-1987 on a part-time basis. Since the parts and manufacturing equipment were getting old and rusty, the American cars built in Iran after 1979 do not have the same outstanding quality as the ones that were made before 1979.

GM ceased the production of all vehicles in Iran in 1987.

it must be a model of PIAGGIO VESPA produced at 80's beginning, but has been modified in some parts. It's hard to say which was the production year!!!

Gag Halfrunt UKPerhaps they shipped the parts via Canada. :) 2007-07-24 16:07
philr CAThe production continued into the eighties. I think it stopped in 1987.

Look at "Iran" on this page on the section about the 1975-1979 Skylark.

If it was dependent on parts imported from the US, production would have stopped when the US government imposed a trade embargo on Iran after the Revolution.

antp BEIf they are not more visible than that, we can maybe wait for another Iranian movie to have a picture of it? The car itself is not so rare, it is just that we do not have much Iranian movies.
On the other hand, it may indeed be interesting to have at least one on the site with a picture :D

philr CAThe white car is a Buick Iran (a 1979 Skylark built in Iran in the eighties) note the vinyl top, bumper guards and side moulding) The bumper rubber strips are missing at both ends of the rear bumper on this one (it's still present between them).

The bumper rubber strips are often missing on these cars, this one misses the right one at the rear and also misses one at front.
Here's one (It's listed as a Skylark on CarDomain but it's not...)

Weasel1984 PLThe cars produced under licence should has flag of country in which are made. In such cases the plant is usually independent and isn't just a foreign branch. That's my opinion.

Edit: I've changed model origin to UK in case of early ones (those identical to Hunter) - they were for first few years assembled from British parts.
