dhill_cb7 ![]() | Lsi by the black B-Pillars. Seriously taking a break now as I noticed I flooded the comment section Also, the 1993 base model DID NOT HAVE A PASSENGER MIRROR. This was added for MY 1994 on the base model. Verified by the brochures and pulling 1993 MYs (with the VINs). edit: 1995 MY. It has DRLs but they were changed to the high beam and standard for MY 1996. -- Last edit: 2021-03-22 13:25:25 |

Reg1992 ![]() | Agreed, outer sections have 1986-87 tail lights while trunk lid has newer 1988-89 replacement and slightly different color. Not sure, main pic here has LX badge while linked image doesn't have it. Could have been removed in the six years between movies but I don't think so ![]() |

G-MANN ![]() | Thanks Evil Tim, vehicle has been listed: /vehicle_505995-GKN-Defence-FV-432.html | 2012-06-01 20:49
Evil Tim ![]() | The one in the first picture you posted is actually a different vehicle entirely, it's a British FV432. You can tell because the tracks have return rollers rather than resting on the top of the roadwheels like on the M113 in the other images. | 2012-05-28 12:40
Evil Tim ![]() | It's definately a fake, the hullform is totally wrong for an Abrams and looks more like a Centurion. Can't see a driver's periscope, so it's not a Chieftain like most are. As far as I'm aware there's one civilian owned Abrams, and it's not a real Abrams; it's the rejected prototype XM1 made by General Motors, which has a hull made from mild steel. It's a wreck owned by a California collector. |

56chevy ![]() | '55 - '59 Chevrolet/GMC for sure. Its probably 1955, all the other years had the model badge high on the fender, but just cant see enough to be positive. | 2012-04-17 05:40
maxman ![]() | Someone should edit this listing. US nomeclature does not use dashes for vehicles or weapons, i. e. M35 and M818, not M-35 or M-818. | 2012-03-16 22:11
maxman ![]() | Not a chance. The Abrams is still the current-issue US main battle tank, with multiple upgrades on older models to increase their lifespan, so there are virtually no decommissioned Abrams, and none are sold to private individuals. -- Last edit: 2012-03-16 21:58:59 |

G-MANN ![]() | I posted a query about this in a military hardware forum, only one person has replied so far but they reckoned this was fake based on a Centurion tank, like some of the other Abrams tanks used in movies. http://forum.globalsecurity.org/showthread.php?t=33812 | 2010-03-14 23:28
G-MANN ![]() | While this is up here, if you've still got this film on your computer Gliffhanger, there's a good view of this tank in this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_CK4Gakqfc (at 2:32, when Bilko says "Fender!") which I think would be a better main image ![]() |

G-MANN ![]() | The front is just about visible in the tug of war scene and this is the 1989 facelift. | 2009-11-11 23:29
ford_guy ![]() | The US military wouldn't leave such equipment at an abandoned military base, especially not a main battle tank such as the Abrams. Also, that paint scheme is not used on any Abrams tanks. But you're right, I have no way of telling for sure what it is. Maybe it's one of those Centurion tanks modified to look like an Abrams. -- Last edit: 2009-11-11 01:04:03 |

G-MANN ![]() | This is some kind of forklift, looks like it could lift a very heavy load. | 2009-11-11 00:50
G-MANN ![]() | Unless you know what to look for, I don't know if it can be proved one way or another if this is a replica or the real thing. It looks pretty realistic (to me anyway). This may have been filmed at an abandoned base and doesn't the US military have a habit of leaving its hardware lying around (like they said in Lord of War)? -- Last edit: 2009-11-11 00:14:18 |
2009-11-11 00:13 | ||
ford_guy ![]() | I don't think there are any actual privately-owned Abrams tanks. The US Army recently upgraded or is in the process of upgrading the original M1 Abrams tanks still in service to the M1A2 configuration, so we certainly haven't done away with them. | 2009-11-10 22:00
G-MANN ![]() | Wouldn't there have been any privately-owned decommissioned Abrams tanks? | 2009-11-10 21:50
ford_guy ![]() | It basically depends on whether it was supported by the Department of Defense or not. And somehow I doubt that was the case for this movie as all of the other military vehicles listed are old or easily available from movie rental companies. | 2009-11-10 21:46
G-MANN ![]() | Well, I don't know, what makes you think it's not? | 2009-11-10 21:36
