TheJudge USI say this because I know a guy with a 1993 GL Coupe, Cayman Green, from Ontario who wanted wire it up so it would have DRLs. Then again, I guess its possible it was an American market model. 2009-12-15 01:58
tonkaTRACKER USCanadian models didn't get DRLs until 1990 (US models got them in 1995) 2009-12-13 22:07
tonkaTRACKER USALL cars sold in Canada after 1990 are required to be equipped with DRLs so if your "Canadian-market T/T driving friends" have Tempos newer than 1990 then they have DRLs

TheJudge USTo my knowledge, Ford never had a daytime running light option on the Tempo. I know the Chevrolet Corsica was the first American car to have this features standard, but I've seen no documentation regarding DRL systems in Tempo or Topaz. Nor have any of my Canadian-market T/T driving friends have this feature in their car.

But it is a 1992-1994. This picture is kinda neat. Shows just how advanced the Tempo was compared to Chrysler town rivals in terms of aerodynamic efficiency. I'm not a huge fan of the monochromatic look of the 1992+ models (unless, of course, its the super rare 1992 GLS), but if its a Ford Tempo or Mercury Topaz. Its awesome.

TheJudge USTopaz GS, with standard issue GS hub caps. Its also equipped with the standard High Swirl Combustion (HSC) version of the venerable 2.3L I4. These four cylinders received a revised sequential fuel injection system for 1992, but other then that, its the same basic engine used since 1988. The SFI system actually saw a decrease in power figures, but a slight improvement in fuel economy. Power figures for the HSC in 1992 were down from a 98HP to 96HP. Not much, but it propelled the lightweight 2,525lb. Mercury well enough for a solid decade. 2009-12-13 21:52

cieraguy a écrit It looks like it has the smooth (not ridged) tail lights of the 1987-1990 model.

cieraguy USBody colored trim makes me think 1992-1994. 2009-11-28 17:12
cieraguy USWheels indicate a Sport model. Also it appears to have rear three-point seat belts and no CHMSL so it would be somewhere in the 1990-1993 range. One thing though, I'm not sure when the Sport switched from these wheels to the five spoke steel wheels. 2009-11-28 17:11

cieraguy USI would agree because of the plastic wheel covers. The pre-1992, I believe had the Tempo-style steel wheel covers. Also it is not newer than a 1993 since it doesn't have the CHMSL. 2009-11-28 17:07

ingo DEIt looks like a 200 avant indeed (5000 S in USA, 5000 was the 100). [Typ 44]. Der door-handles aren't visible, so I cannot say pre or post 1986. 2009-11-28 14:42

Turbobanana ENI think it's higher-spec than that, looking at the headlights and grille. If it was in the UK I'd say a 200 Avant, but I think it was called 5000 or something in US? 2009-11-28 09:58
