Gamer ![]() | I think I-Denev will agree with me that here, Clarkson is a total idiot - as usual - for destroying this Lada. He obviously and instantly said: "it is Eastern and therefore junk" and knew nothing about how robust, reliable and long-lasting it can be in the right conditions. I used to think likewise, but I changed my mind quite a while ago. Sorry for repeating what had already been said, but I simply had to elaborate/emphasize on it. -- Last edit: 2016-09-05 22:18:38 |

carcrasher88 ![]() | 1996 Winston Select 500, Elliott was injured in this lap 79 crash, and wouldn't return to racing until July, in the Pepsi 400. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcRY3gXpv5E This was the same race that Ricky Craven was involved in another horrific crash on lap 130, involving 14 cars and sending his car up and over into the catchfence. Unlike Elliott, Craven would be back in the car the next week. -- Last edit: 2013-10-06 01:45:08 |

Weasel1984 ![]() | The Martini 037 was to see in Portugal only in 1983 and 1984. With some risk, but I think the livery ("VS/Olio-Fiat" decals style ) looks more for the 1984 Evo 2. Also the rear bumper would be perhaps visible at this pic in case of the pre-Evo 2 car, espeically that the right rear mudflap seems to be missing. | 2013-08-09 20:50

TheHeartbreakKid15 ![]() | What's a bit confusing is, the Corvette Clarkson is seen driving has the steering wheel from the 1990+ facelifted models but the body is from a 1984-1989 model? | 2011-10-22 16:06

TheHeartbreakKid15 ![]() | This can't be a turbo because A) Clarkson would've mentioned it and B) He says it's RWD whereas Turbos are 4WD aren't they? So this is probably a Carrera 2 and (judging by the press plate) a 1997 model. | 2010-07-16 16:58

road wars fanatic ![]() | Although it wasn't the prettiest car it was very technologically advanced for its time, First car with an electronic display and pop up headlights, I cannot believe Jeremy would want to destroy this of all cars, but i agree the suspension was very bad and it did drink fuel but why would Clarkson want to wipe gas guzzlers off the face of the planet when he usually likes gas guzzlers, but I agree with him when you drive the car on some water or ice and you may end up on the wrong side of a ditch... |

130rapid ![]() | I agree. It had side mirrors screw to door panels, typical way for pre-1983 FSO Polonez.* * * I'm keeping friend's 1982 Polonez 1500 Standard in my garage. Exactly this one: http://www.youngtimer.pl/galeria/225.html With all papers, keys and good words "Keep'em running time to time!" I do. In many points Clarkson was right. Definitely Polonez is "he", not "she". Needs man hand, like large dog on a walk. Hard to move steering wheel and gear stick. Even Skoda Estelle feel much delicate & precise thing. On curves Polonez understeers hardly (with neutral or closed throttle) or oversteers [when pushing hard] - true! Polonez is the best reviewer of driver skills. If you keep them of perfect line, apply throttle carefully, move steering wheel gently, you could "defeat" all curves neutral and quite fast. Clonking gearbox? No! Gear stick has strange working geometry. Engine doesn't feel like 75 KM? - true. But has lot of low/medium-rpm torque and nicely sounds with metal hoarse. Polonez has cream-plush sunvisors & roof "carpet", fire-brown fabric-cowered soft seats, tachometer, electric clock, many chrom stripes, even oil pressure gauge! In standard form with Ford Fiesta Mk I 1.1 price! And all this things work well still. So, Polonez is really fun to drive. Looks like last 70s, drives like early 60s. Modern face with dated hardware. :P -- Last edit: 2009-12-10 01:16:07 |
