993cc VASorry, a replica.
A 3 mil $ car taken out in the desert for a 3rd-rate tv movie? You know that won't happen. Replicas (and..) of these Ferraris got made based on a few unlucky 308/328 Ferrari chassis (you see you don't get to do this on a Fiero). According to imdb this was shot in Phoenix, Arizona. What a coincidence that back then a Mr. Jim Carpenter (in Phoenix, Arizona) was in the business of manufacturing 3 or 4 sets of body moulds for this conversion and selling as Evoluzione replicas. The rear part isn't bad but in a proper full side view (which we don't have) the differences would become obvious as real GTO chassis are about 4"/10cm longer than 308/328. But note the 2 rear exhausts (real ones had 3 F40-like), normal wind-down window (real ones had slide plexi window) and door mirror of strange shape and placement (real ones had them placed -inside- quarterlight).

"Jim Carpenter made 3-4 of of these replicas, actually very nice. The molds were incredible. One of the replicas is in the USA, in the basement of a Ferrari Dealership. The other 2-3 are in Europe. I bought the molds back in 2005 from Butch in Phoenix, who had purchased JC's business.... If you look at the slant vents behind the rear wheels you can see the difference. Also the wheelbase is off, the 288 GTO Evo was built on the 288 GTO street wheelbase, abour 4.3 inches longer than a 308/328. " posted by user "RP" on ferrarichat, 17 Nov 2009
Pics of one for sale in Holland in 2011 for 147500 euros. Note this one had a plexi window but also note 308 qv engine intake -longitudinally! quite the trouble!

I don't have proof for this Knight Rider car but only the name "Jim Carpenter" turns up for Evoluzione replicas (and standard GTO's by the way) so this and the location makes it 99.9% a "GTO Evoluzione -Replica by Jim Carpenter", year unknown sometime after 1988 (last GTO Evo built) and 1994 when this was shot.

Impetuous younger me :)
Almost 4 years and some searches later, it appears that this truck has the 1946-47 bumper. Which means that it's either a medium-duty 1½-ton model (4000-Series), a heavy-duty 1½-ton one (6000S-Series) or a heavy-duty 2-ton one (6000-Series).

→ 1946 'Art Deco'

eLMeR MH1941-47 Chevrolet Art Deco for sure, but why 1947 model year, as even experienced fans say it is almost impossible to identify a specific model year over another? And as stake model and with what is visible from this one (no wheelbase length nor single/dual rear wheels views), it could be a ¾-ton model, a 1-ton one or a 1½ one. It could be the 1-ton and 1½-ton stake height, but we are talking here about a 1941-47 truck shot in a 1994 movie, so the accuracy of its fitting can reasonably be questioned...

1941 Chevrolet Stake?

I hope somebody rescues this car...even though the made-for-tv-movie was not successful at least preserve history so when people so this vehicle they will still find something interesting.

This is a 1991 Ford Thunderbird, as can be seen by studying these photos, it may have been a Mustang in the movie, but it is still a Thunderbird and I think it should be listed as one.

firefoxussr USNo Koenig whatsoever. This was a Group B prototype from Ferrari, it's the basis for the F40. After Group B was banned the car served as a testbed for the F40. Only 5 exist. The basis is the 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO. This is known as the 288 GTO Evoluzione. I cannot believe this car was on TV!

The Koenig you are referring to is the Koenig Competition (which is a highly modified Ferrari Testarossa). The Koenig Testarossa had anywhere between 600 and 1000 horse power depending on when it was built. They featured a supercharger in conjunction with twin turbo chargers.
