Baube QCif this comment is accurate, yes, would be filmed entirely in Lebanon 2022-10-05 21:00
dhill_cb7 USMost certainly a US spec model. I am a bit perplexed where this scene takes place. IMDb isn't very forthcoming with filming locations. Seems to 2003-2005 SE by the wheels and absence of a rear chrome plate on the bumper.

Edit: reading other comments is this Lebanon?

Sandie wrote The amber-ness of the indicators makes me think this is a 1997-99 US-spec Montero Sport. EU and JDM ones had clear turn signals on the headlamps. Comments? Are US-spec cars common in Lebanon?

I tried looking extensively tonight and could not find concrete evidence to support a Lebanese spec model like this. Was listed as a [K90] but that would indicate this is a 4WD model. US spec models also came 2WD which carries the [K80] code. Most appropriate would be [K80/90] if the drivetrain is unknown.

[K85W] was the rare 2.4 2WD 4 cylinder model. Only came on the ES and I believe was only 1997-1998.
[K86W] was the 3.0 V6 2WD.
[K89W] was the 3.5 V6 2WD.
[K96W] was the 3.0 V6 4WD.
[K99W] was the 3.5 V6 4WD.

Neptune US1973-1980 model, with the door mirrors suggesting 1980. It’s a three quarter-ton rear-wheel drive C-20 (if Chevrolet) or C-25 (if GMC).

Statistically speaking, its probably a Chevrolet as more Chevrolets were built and sold than GMCs.

karoomay SYThere's not much I can do either other than donate to charity on helping Syrian refugees. It's good that you are keeping your students informed on the Middle East, better to be informed rather than be an uniformed imbecile. 2013-09-06 00:32
electra225 ITthe same for me. I feel sometimes selfish to do so, but I cannot do anything. I just speak with my pupils a lot about the problems of the Middle East avoiding too political matters but letting them watch movies as this one or other like for instace "Encendies" about Lebanon, too. 2013-09-06 00:11
karoomay SYI too am still very heartbroken on the ongoing civil war that's destroying Syria, a unique place where I spent most of my childhood. Things there have gotten so bad lately, that I can't bear watching the news about it anymore. :( 2013-09-05 23:59
Weasel1984 PLVery possible, but like has been stated the older 6000-range used the same cabs... 2013-09-05 23:53

electra225 ITfantastic movie...! I watched last year for the first time and I recently bought the DVD. I will let my students watch at soon. 2013-09-05 23:49
electra225 ITIn 1991 I travelled four times from Amman to Damascus and return using such cars (a white '70 Coronet, a silver '73 Coronet, a burgundy '75 Coronet, and a very strange Volvo 245 with long wheel base with syrian plate.
I loved so much those places and people and I am very sad about what is happening over there...!!!

Weasel1984 PLAstra. Of the "6000" (or similar) range or the later ca '95+ "HD" - same cabine with minor changes. 2013-09-05 20:44
Weasel1984 PLAnd not only body. This looks, like bus known originally as the "Karosa LC 936", but to my surprise, at this website these Lebanese buses are called "Renault Axer".
The interesting is not the different brand, but the model name. Same one, since ca 2002, was used also for the bus of different type made by the Karosa too, but already under the Irisbus wings (and exported under this brand).
This one represents older design (1997-2000) and under this name it IMHO wasn't sold in Europe or was very rare.

(inactive user)The wheel arches and pillars don't match. Also check the missing double bumper portion between the rear bumper and the tail lights which is present on the Lexus. I would have said it is another 4Runner, but I am not sure because it is black and cannot see the details very well.

karoomay SYHas Syrian taxi license plate. It was a Syrian border taxi that was part of a fleet of 1970s American Mopar cars and they were used on traveling to Lebanon or Jordan from Syria.
Here's 2 examples of them:
