jpts AUBased on the bus' Victoria FGY-XXX number plates, must be a 1993 model.

Victoria number plates from 1993 started with FCJ-XXX and ending with FZZ-XXX in July 1994.

In September 1994, the format for Victoria number plates changed to blue on white with a new slogan; "Victoria- On The Move".

58Roadmaster a écrit I think the american cars would still be LHD, because the law did not go into effect until 1962. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It is my understanding that these vehicles I have listed are usually from Canada as CKD. It also could be locally assembled too..

Australian coaches of the 1970's by different bus body builders are sometimes difficult to distinguish at first glance, but this one definetely was built by the Australian firm Freighter Industries on a Hino chassis.

ddgonzal USIt is a Datsun 1200 [B110] 4-door sedan. Very common in Australia, where this movie was filmed. The cowl gasket matches the 1200.
The engine looks to be at a 45 degree angle :-)

STEPHEN A. BATEMAN AUThe vehicle shown is an AT4 Dodge Truck.
These trucks were built at Tonsley Park in South Australia from 1962 to 1972.
The designation AT4 stands for Australian Truck 4 Series.
They were available with 225 Cu.In. Slant Six, 245 Cu.In. Hemi 6, 354 Cu.In. 6 Cyl. Perkins Diesel , 464 Cu.In. 6 Cyl. Cummins Diesel , 470 Cu.In. V8 Cummins Diesel , 313 Cu.In. and 318 Cu.In. A series V8 (Poly), 318 Cu.In. LA Series V8 and 361 Cu.In. B Series V8 (Big Block).
The D5N (Dodge Truck 5 Series Normal Control) commenced production after AT4 ceased. The body of the D5N can be externally identified by a single Wide ( approx 2") stainless steel front fender moulding. Single seven Inch headlamps with combination Park/Turn Lamps fitted outside the headlamps.

240 Gardner ENThere was everything wrong with the Buffaloes that I drove!! And the record for downtime was 16 out of 20 VOR on the same day! Leyland even loaned 4 brand new Marathons for a year, painted up in fleet colours, to compensate for the Buffaloes. And these were L12s, not even the hideous 500-Series. 2007-06-01 09:41
leylandt45 SXThis is a Leyland Buffalo. Possibly a fine Buffalo 2 with a TL11 engine, so its probably still working somewhere in the outback... Being an Aussie motor, probably a 13 speed Roadranger in it too. Nowt wrong wi a Leyland! :sun: 2007-05-31 23:37

valiant1962 AUThis model in Australia was fitted with a Holden four cylinder "Starfire" motor. It was basically a Holden "Red" six cylinder with two cylinders cut off. Displacement was 1.9 litres. I believe model designation was XT-130

valiant1962 AULada's were not imported into Australia until the mid 1980's, and then only the Niva 4wds, and some Samara sedans/hatches, so not a Lada 2007-05-18 13:54
valiant1962 AUThat is a Dodge [D5N] would appear to be a 300 by the dual rear wheels. From the very early 1960's Australian Dodge trucks departed from the US models. They used a cabin shared with International pickups and with different grills, trims etc. The 1960's Dodges used the 225 ci slant six engine. From the very early 1970's when Chrysler Aust developed there own six cylinder engine, the famous Hemi six, the Dodge trucks were fitted with the Hemi instead of the slant six. LA series V8s were also offered in 318 ci capacity towards the end. 2007-05-18 13:51
DynaMike NLNobody asked for it, but nevertheless: The green car far left is a Humber Scepter. The red car behind the black one is a 1960 Chevrolet (Bel Air?). And in the middle, there is a white 1956 Ford on top of a white 1959 Ford. 2007-05-18 11:45
nzcarnerd NZThis cab was used by both IH and Dodge in Aust. I think this is an AB1500 but I will check. The Dodge version used the 225 slant six. The IH had an IH six although by now it could have been repowered.. 2007-05-18 07:11

240 Gardner ENWell, it's an Ergomatic cab, but we can't tell what chassis it's on. Is this an Australian film? I was just looking at the stone guards at the base of the screen. And if it was a Buffalo, hopefully the chap was doing the world a service by cutting it up! Could also be a Comet, maybe even a late Beaver perhaps?
