Gag Halfrunt wrote I think the number plate is just a paper sheet (printed in a British number plate font) pasted over a different plate. Perhaps the original plates were left behind or destroyed in Turkey when filming finished.

It's a white aluminum sheet over black.

Darrenl wrote 15 cars were used because, although short, the sequence had numerous different elements that required very specific preparation of the car. Some cars were prepped for the actual chase, others for the roll, and others for an element wherein the two cars were actually joined together on a special rig that allowed full control of the rate of spin that occurred when the Land Rover hit the Audi. Also, as with all large budget movie productions, each element of the film has multiple cars prepped for the same gag (2 cars to go on the rig, 4 cars prepped to roll, etc).

Thank you Darren. Production insights like these are worth their weight in gold. Wish we had this level of documentation for the Diamonds are Forever '71 Mustangs.

CarnivalRedEscort wrote LB61 PBX and its identical “twin” LB61 PBO are still appearing as police cars in dramas and sitcoms on television in 2018. “Hold the Sunset”. “Hard Sun”. “Collateral “ to name 3. The orange stripes have been replaced by blue and yellow battenburging in recent productions.

Still being used in 2019 with identical siblings LB61 PBU and LB61 PBV in Wild Bill, The Capture, and Bodyguard.

A 5th one exists LB61 OZX, but it only appears on imcdb under “Silent Witness”.

PBX and PBO must hold some sort of record for “vehicle with the longest film and television career “!

PBX also featured in a Bollywood as well- /vehicle_1472707-Kia-Optima-TF-2012.html

Baube QCno need to get older to have trouble entering/exiting cars.. just a leg injury does the trick ! :/ 2020-10-03 20:06
johnfromstaffs ENIt is a fact that as one gets older it becomes more difficult to enter or leave cars. Most of my cohort, with the exception of Ron the Marathon runner, (76 and still running, and drives an Audi TT Convertible) have succumbed either to people carriers or SUVs, and I am fairly sure that my next vehicle will be similar. Following a back spasm a couple of weeks ago, I had about three days when I could not get into the driver’s seat of my car, so be warned. 2020-10-03 19:46

dsl wrote ... and it was a sales flop. Meant to appeal to trendy young things who wanted something more individual than the Fiesta, but was much soggier and less fun to drive. Did sell quite well to old folk, who liked the big doors and easy access, so street cred for young folk plummeted even further.

Ah, so it was the European version of the Scion xB then.

Sandie SXProduct placement for Land-Rover most likely. Oxfordshire plate like the other Land-Rovers seen in UK scenes and the Jaguar XJ used by M fits with the plates used on their fleet cars at this time.

HSE trim is also a bit posh for police use, they always use the most basic specced Land-Rovers.
