AnimatronixX ![]() | No no, not the 1988 Corolla 4WD [AE95] - that's actually the cool one: 1984 Toyota Tercel 4WD [AL25]. As a kid I always hoped my parents might buy one, but they wouldn't listen. |

Mystery Man ![]() | The episode was already aired in March 1995, so even shot in 1994. Must be pre-production then since it appeares there is product placement by BMW, as we could guess by the 325i's plate from Munich... | 2020-05-22 19:10 | ||
AnimatronixX ![]() | Early Welsch Typ 1 ('Der Preiswerte'), 740 model very likely, as not that many 760s were bodied. Noticeable features: Rear side doors deleted, gas cap relocated (interesting - not sure if I have seen that before). Roof rail added and bolted through the vinyl roof, which is why I assume the car is no longer with us - they didn't need additional weak spots to rot away in peace overnight. |

Mystery Man ![]() | Thank you very much! As with every car you need to know what you have to notice - then it's quite easy. Nearly the same with modern chassis cab-based ambulances, but that's usually easier (at least to me). And then I remember that I wanted to take a look at them ... ![]() |

AnimatronixX ![]() | Don't worry, I meanwhile checked them all (that I know of) on the site and it seems like hardly anyone could tell them apart. But actually - the closer you look, the less they have in common. Miesen Bonna 124 L: Binz Ambulance 2001: Check the roof above the cabin - Binz' shape is noticeably curved, the Miesen one is almost straight 45°. Furthermore, the 'ears' above the cabin, a never beautiful, but necessary feature if they used standard doors instead of commercial glass (compare: various 'glass house' hearses from the UK). Miesen's ears are very pointy, facing upwards, Binz' ones are again curved, facing rearwards. The Miesen bodies of that era usually have large sideglass of almost geometrical shape, Binz used smaller windows of different shape. The position of the repeater above the rear side window is also different. These are some easy ways to tell them apart, rather spontaneously compiled (because I usually don't make a conscious decision in those cases - I just see what it is). There's more, but this should do it for now. It helps a lot if you're experienced in telling identical twins apart - just to find out they aren't identical at all. And all this is why the one seen here is another Miesen Bonna 124 L. ![]() |
