dsl SXAgreed. World Car Catalogue (various 1969-1981 editions) confirms Israeli assembly of UK-supplied bits. Nothing apparent for any other Ford - UK or elsewhere.

Black grille/round lights probably = 73+ L

robi DEPlease set as "built in Israel".

The link is in German, but it says that Ford Israel began in 1968 with the assembly of the Escort (when the project was started, they wanted to produce the Anglia)

Gag Halfrunt UKThis was filmed in Israel. They didn't film anything in Turkey; the one scene set in Turkey was faked in Israel:

electra225 ITThe actual country is not Iran, but Israel: No one Peykan (a Hillman Hunter clone), but lots of quite similer Mk2 Cortinas, very rare in Iran, but common in Israel, and they have the rear end reflective strips tipical and mandatory for the Israeli market. Does anybody agree with me ? 2009-12-07 12:33
elliot007 ENhi, this is a MAN SL 200 frame, HAARGAZ do the body work. all I know is the frame made in the 1980s by MAN in Germany. eli. 2009-11-10 21:04
Ddey65 USThis has a crank rear window in the tailgate, so I imagine it has to be pretty old.

Gag Halfrunt UKThe story is set in Iran, not Iraq, but the film was shot in Israel.

In response to garco, there is one scene set in Turkey. It was certainly filmed in Israel, because it shows a bus in the livery of Israeli operator Dan.

ingo DETurkey hadn't such a law, as I know. The plate is for sure a fake, as its set in Iraq, but not filmed there. 2009-10-19 11:22
garco NLFilm was also made in Turkey... Maybe this isn't Israel? Licenseplate? 2009-10-19 10:00
ingo DEInteresting. Since what year Israel had this law? 2009-10-19 07:38
DynaMike NLRjluna2 found out that they were required in Israel as well ( /vehicle.php?id=150046 ). The repeater is, like on the MB) bigger than in European countries... 2009-10-18 17:43
ingo DEI've never heard, that they were mandatory in Israel. I only know the countries Denmark, Norway, Italy and Japan, which had these laws.

The 1972-K 70, I've randomly found on the streets of Eilat in July 1997, didn't had them, too. ;)
2009-10-18 13:41
rjluna2 USWalter, is that indicator on the fender made for Isreal? 2009-10-18 00:11
rjluna2 USMade for Isreal due to repeater on the fender (not the wheel well). 2009-10-18 00:09
Gag Halfrunt UKThis was filmed in Israel, so any differences in models sold in Iran are not relevant. Differences in models sold in Israel, on the other hand, would be relevant. :) 2009-10-17 22:49

Assaf wrote Seems they were convinced putting together as many Mk. II Cortinas as possible would make it look like Paykans...

Indeed. :)

Incidentally, Assaf, I submitted another capture from this scene showing two buses, but it didn't get posted. One of them looks like an O.303 from Egged.
