Kowalski5599 ![]() | Damn, was hoping to steal the shot of it with the new tires being put on | 2023-06-07 20:25
Baube ![]() | RIP Fred Ward ![]() ( died on may 8th , kind of late but...) |
2022-11-04 20:10 | ||
IHateFreedom ![]() | They dug out a big pit and put in an industrial elevator for the scene of the car being buried. As someone pointed out, a front end hooked up to a battery was used for the scene where Val and Earl discover the vehicle. | 2022-07-09 19:33
antboi04 ![]() | There actually IS a floor shifter. It is barely visible, next to Val's leg as he kicks it into four-wheel drive. It's black in color, and it only seen for a split second. Whether it's a 3 speed or 4 speed is beyond my knowledge. | 2021-08-21 17:22
mike962 ![]() | from deleted scene![]() |
2021-05-13 20:08 | ||
Baube ![]() | i'm not even sure why this is listed as 1989 in the first place Mazda decal on the tailgate's first year was 1988 ( before it was in the middle ) as for black trim around tail lights being 1990+ .. oops.. -- Last edit: 2021-04-22 07:29:48 |
2021-04-22 07:16 | ||
Skid ![]() | Curious, since the movie was filmed in May of 1989. Perhaps a pre-production example? -- Last edit: 2021-04-22 06:07:57 |

Skid ![]() | I agree that it's the Overboard car. It also appeared in "The Case of the Hillside Stranglers" in 1989: /vehicle_731268-Chevrolet-Chevy-II-1963.html | 2021-04-20 06:26
mike962 ![]() | it's rather made for movie , modified to be remote operated |

Sgt.Strode ![]() | That's interesting to know. I wonder if it survives now. It would be awesome to own such a cool GMC from a cult movie. |
2020-10-18 09:13 | ||
dhill_cb7 ![]() | 1977-1979 cowl badge. |
2020-06-04 15:07 | ||
GodzillaFan54 ![]() | I'm pretty sure that it was a portable radio and the flashing lights might've been part of the car's alarm, since she locked all the doors. -- Last edit: 2020-04-03 06:15:41 |

Skid ![]() | I think the lawn tractor is an old MTD "Silver Edition," probably the 16 horsepower variant, from that decal. | 2019-11-20 20:21
RoyBoy69 ![]() | wonder if it has the 3 speed manual or the 4 speed | 2019-07-29 05:11
RoyBoy69 ![]() | deleted comment | 2019-07-05 01:26
Baube ![]() | not saying its the case for this one but looks like it was like this in 1962 -- Last edit: 2019-07-04 23:11:57 |
2019-07-04 23:11 | ||
RoyBoy69 ![]() | yes, but I am confused because in the same scene val seems to put it in 4wd by pulling a lever back but I don't see a gear shifter on the floor, unless the shifter is on the column | 2019-07-04 22:55
dhill_cb7 ![]() | In the scene where they get stuck Earl says to Val "you are going to burn out the clutch". | 2019-07-04 07:26
RoyBoy69 ![]() | wonder if its manual or automatic | 2019-07-04 07:17
shervinator ![]() | Due to the black trim around the taillights, this is actually a 1990 model. Those tires are also the original Bridgestone SF Radials, long since discontinued! Judging by its wheels (which appear to be white underneath all that dirt), it also seems to be an SE-5 model that is somehow missing its graphics package (maybe the director wanted it to look more basic, so he had the art department peel it off). In conclusion, this should be listed as a 1990 Mazda B2200 SE-5. | 2018-11-06 10:03
ThePattonTank ![]() | The blower fan in my uncle's '84 Volkswagen Rabbit would run without the key in the ignition... | 2018-07-30 06:54
mike962 ![]() | wonder if this is supposed the steam tractor from the prequel /vehicle_24902-Case-60hp-1912.html |

mike962 ![]() | maybe we take Chevy by default ? |
2017-04-07 22:51 | ||
Baube ![]() | ah... never saw it ( despite seeing the movie at least 50 times... ) didn't knew some could play the radio without the key ( and i never tried it ... ) |
2016-09-09 15:59 | ||
ThePattonTank ![]() | There was a portable radio inside the car. She knocked it over by accident and it turned on. Also, some vehicles have an ability for the radio to work without the keys, most notably BMWs, Volkswagens, and some Mercedes. -- Last edit: 2016-09-09 15:52:59 |

CougarTim ![]() | There's a good view of the lawn tractor here:![]() There's a model name on the side, something like 5TV 16. |
2016-06-12 00:36 | ||
CougarTim ![]() | Wood paneling was not a factory option on the Chevy II wagon. This could be the same car in "Overboard" (1987): /vehicle_1039-Chevrolet-Chevy-II-1963.html | 2016-06-12 00:05
Skid ![]() | With that badging, it's a 1963 to early 1965 model. It most likely has the OHC 230ci inline six engine in it. | 2016-06-09 02:27
opal ![]() | I just notice this, it has J-200 badge. | 2016-06-08 12:25

Lateef ![]() | @Murf32: the NA-spec 1980-81 Civic did have the badge in the middle, whereas Australian and European models had Honda written on the side of the grille. The second gen Civic was also bigger than the first gen. | 2016-06-07 14:00

opal ![]() | There is a small mistake here, she doesn't have a key with her and yet the car headlights is on for some reason. Don't you need a key to turn on the lights? -- Last edit: 2016-06-07 11:35:03 (walter) |

Skid ![]() | According to a People magazine article, this vehicle actually belonged to Michael Gross (Burt). He bought it new not long before production, and kept it until 1997. | 2015-06-21 20:26
Tremorsfan9873 ![]() | i wish this survived longer | 2013-08-23 22:05
Tremorsfan9873 ![]() | most likely it is just the grill with a battery near by, or that just built a tunnel put the car in it filled the tunnel with dirt and angled the camera so it looks like it was buried. -- Last edit: 2013-08-23 21:11:17 |
