Lateef ![]() | Either VW or Wartburg must've been copycats, as they bear an unholy resemblance to each other. | 2012-09-05 13:28

Weasel1984 ![]() | They maybe were, but we know nothing (yet) how it was in this case. Till the late 90s MAN was the least "worldwide" manufacturer among the biggest manufacturers. -- Last edit: 2012-09-04 21:24:25 |

ingo ![]() | Also the chassis were built abroad, according to the local regulations of measures and weight-classes. | 2012-09-04 21:20
Weasel1984 ![]() | But the chassis might be. Like for now we list buses according to chassis origin (with exception when chassis was also made abroad - so for example some Brazilian MB's). | 2012-09-04 21:19

Gag Halfrunt ![]() | John Veerkamp's site mentions MAN and Mercedes buses with Yugoslav bodies in Aleppo. The windscreen on this bus looks similar to those on the buses in his photos, but other details are different: http://www.bus-planet.com/bus/bus-asia/Syria/Aleppo/files/frame.html |

Weasel1984 ![]() | The front wall design somehow reminds me style of some Italian bus bodies. But after paying more attention to the details, I think it may be just a coincidence. The rest is a bit "Beneluxish"... No idea what it is, maybe really MAN based... | 2012-09-04 17:55
Weasel1984 ![]() | Very possible. Front windows are similar. |

karoomay ![]() | Ah yes, for the past 10-15 years, the number of Korean cars and other cars from cheaper makes (such as Chinese or Iranian) has increased significantly as older European and American cars gradually disappeared and the remaining survivors are now getting destroyed in the conflict. But at least, most of the cars casualties are Korean cars which I don't really care much for. But at this point, the loss of innocent human lives in this conflict is much more concerning to me than cars being destroyed. -- Last edit: 2012-09-04 12:41:24 |

Raul1983 ![]() | Is that a Chrysler 160/180 on the left side of Mazda 929? ![]() I've noticed that in Libya and Syria over 50% of the vehicles are Korean made. Also many new Chinese trucks and vans. Very few American cars. Around 10-20% of cars are old European or Japanese from 1960's to 1980's. For example in yesterdays news from Syria I saw a Datsun 260C wagon. |

karoomay ![]() | Yes, but unfortunately after surviving all these years, there are now prone to getting destroyed in the crossfire of the conflict such as these cars here: Link to "www.yourmiddleeast.com" ![]() |

Raul1983 ![]() | I was watching news about the Syrian conflict few weeks back and saw a 5-door Simca 1100 Break on a street of Aleppo. On a side note I remember a BBC news reporter standing next to a VW 412 in Benghazi, Libya about a year ago. Quite many old interesting cars still left in that part of the world. -- Last edit: 2012-09-04 12:08:38 |

rpcm ![]() | It's a 1962+ 190 (or 190 D although the rear badge seems more 190) W110. Nevertheless, looking carefuly at the shape of the optional fog lamps below the headlights and with the mirror placed on the door (both introduced by 1963) it would be more appropriate to date it 1964. -- Last edit: 2012-09-03 23:17:03 |
