130rapid ![]() | Just 'Sunny'. Indeed, the front wallance fits! ![]() These front wings without engine cover fooled me, I was thinking about 1960s car (with front end similar to Peugeot 404 in overall shape). -- Last edit: 2023-04-28 16:29:23 |

Weasel1984 ![]() | They used as base model made in the years 1974-76. Interesting who did mistake - authors of linked article or of this documentary? "That Was the Year: 1977"... By what I understand it is not factory related conversion, so IMO it can be listed simply as CitiCar with Solar/solar conversion as extra info. -- Last edit: 2020-01-05 20:28:58 |

dsl ![]() | Noted that we might have to treat the Willowvale data carefully - eg Renault 12 can't be 1967-77 as 12 was not launched until Sept 69. But if this is a 77my 12 from visible evidence, so be it. | 2015-02-28 01:02

130rapid ![]() | Actually it isn't Corolla. :X There are some similarities with [E10] indeed - front McPherson struits and front engine with rear wheels drive probably - but this car has different body part under radiator cowl (Corolla had wide air intake there). Also oldfashioned headlights 'ears' are noticable. ![]() I tried with Honda N360/N600, Colt 800/1000, Prince Skyline, they didn't match. ![]() Is it Japanese at all? ![]() |

rpcm ![]() | By what is possible to understand of the rear lights (combined with wheel centre caps) it's a 2000 and it's an r.h.d. car. In this scenery and with a Giulia nearby, I would say it's most probably a South-African assembled one. | 2012-09-02 04:15

mazeltough ![]() | South African registration plates were black until 1979/1980. This Renault 12 is the facelift model, with raised front bumper and larger rear light clusters. The facelift Renault 12 wasn't sold in South Africa as production ended there in 1975. My guess is that is a Rhodesian-spec model. | 2010-10-14 09:55
fsebus ![]() | Leyland National 1 (existait en rouge!!!) | 2010-06-17 22:58
marklandynut ![]() | I can be very precise about what this Land Rover is. It is a late 109" Series 2A military Land Rover (the front grille cannot be seen as its painted black, but the windscreen hinges and dashboard show it to be a 2A), or Rover 11 to give it the correct military title. Its also the FFR (fitted for radio) version. The radio aerials on the wings are easy to see of course, plus there's the side facing 'radio operator' seat in the rear next to the canvass cover over the radio kit, plus the rack behind the cab used to mount more radio kit and weapons. It is also a 24 volt vehicle (to power the radios) and has twin fuel tanks, one mounted under each front seat (single tank vehicles had the fuel filler on the right hand wing like civvy models). The year of manufacture is 1969-1972. Unlike civvy 2A models which were replaced in 1971 by the Series 2, the Rover 11 continued for a further year to fulfill an outstanding contract for the British Army. Quite a number of left hand drives were bought by the Army mainly for use overseas, and I'm guessing these shots were taken in Germany. | 2010-06-02 01:02

SteveA ![]() | This much we know: National Bus Company green livery and the National Bus Company logo on the side. Can't give you the operator because I don't recognise the location, but it's a Leyland-National bus with a short roofpod, which inconveniently all but hidden behind the lamp standard. |

Jale ![]() | "At the engineering department at Tel Aviv University in Israel, Arye Braunstein and his colleagues created a solar car in 1980 (pictured below). The solar car had a solar panel on the hood and on the roof of the Citicar comprised of 432 cells creating 400 watts of peak power. The solar car used 8 batteries of 6 volts each to store the photovoltaic energy." http://www.firstcarnow.com/first-solar-car.htm -- Last edit: 2010-05-29 14:05:16 |

ingo ![]() | Where were these scenes (also that with the Alfa Giulia, the Alfa Berlina 2000 and the Audi 60) filmed? This one is a RHD-car, the others are hard to identify.Looks like Africa. South Africa maybe (RHD and yellow plates) - otherwise aren't these four cars from the typical ZA-range. And I don't know, if it was common there, to drive around with a MG in the hand as here or on the load-space of a Pick Up (see the unkown Pick Up, too). |

nzcarnerd ![]() | This car was owned by Roger Collings for many years but I believe it is now in the US. In this picture the rear seat passenger wearing a leather helmet in the right side of the car is Bill Boddy who for many years was editor of MotorSport magazine. The Mercedes 60 was the fastest car available in 1903 and they were bought by wealthy playboys on the French Riviera who were killing themselves in them as fast as the factory could supply them. They were too powerful for the tyres of the time. | 2010-05-28 21:49
