Not all cars, neither in the AutoStadt, nor in the AutoMuseum are in perfect and acceptable -for hardcore connaisseurs acceptable- condition. I haven't been there since a while, but I know that from some informants :o

@Gamer: as I've heard, that car shall be removed now, but the worst thing, I've seen in the Volkswagen Museum, was a pre-war Audi (a Front or 225, I think), where a moron has mounted the hubcaps of a 1977 Audi 80 GLS - with a Spax-screw for wood, smashed into the nave!!

ingo DEHere is something about several stretched T1 and T2, but no comment about the makers:

http://www.vwcamperhire.com/blog/top-ten-vw-campervan-limos/

about this specific vehicle:

http://www.carscoops.com/2007/10/vw-microbus-limousine.html

Aha, it was converted by Bob Koch:

http://www.vwlimo.com/otherlimos.html

But this doesn't make it "made for USA" neither.

This has to be it, I mean, how many stretched T1s can there be?

Why it had to be a Belgian-spec model, when it has a Belgian plate? :??: It's even not Belgian-spec, when the converter sits there.

(to identify by the rectangular foglamps). I haven't found any information about the owner (at the Bensberg-show they placed a TV-actor in it), but it's not the car, owned by the Volkswagen AutoStadt (if they really own it and it's not just a loan by a private person, which is not unlikely).

igna BOAnyway, it seems to be a series normal T3 Syncro with 16" wheels from which VW/Steyr Puch made only ca. 2300 units. They were built in Hannover, then taken to Graz in Austria and again to Hannover in the case of a normal Bus or Transporter. If it was about the Westfalia home mobile, it was taken to Rheda-Wiedenbrück. That was why there were so expensive at that time.

antp BEI changed it to "Custom Made Wendt Wagen" and someone changed it again.

But I doubt, that this car was 40 years in a "Sleepeing Beauty sleep". The steering wheel is way too new for that.

barrett UKok. This should be a 1961 Wendt Wagen. Although this is a one-off and no naming convention exists for it I would list it as [marque] Wendt [model] Wagen. All information about it (in German) can be found here:

It's something selfmade on T1-basis anyways, so it can be also a Bus or a Transporter in orign.
