yannV8 ![]() | This is obviously the Regence displayed on the Simca Vedette stand at the Salon de l'auto in september 1955. The cars presented at the Paris motor show in 1954 as 1955 models did have a visible gas refill instead of hidden behind the rear license plate. The front bumper of 55 models did not have a place for the license plate like the car on these pictures. This 56 Régence was painted Jaune paille and Oxford Grey, a very nice color combination. |

| 2013-07-22 18:42
dsl ![]() | Probably Rallye du Maroc, possibly 1970-72. | 2013-02-20 16:30
dsl ![]() | 1970 Rallye du Maroc, Neyret/Terramorsi, winners. Apparently a DS21 Rallye Proto acording to some results sites. They won this event while in the middle of competing in the 1970 World Cup Rally - when it arrived in Lisbon the cars had to go by ship to Rio de Janeiro, which took just over a week. Citroën´s team manager René Cotton, Neyret and Terramorsi flew to Casablanca instead of Rio, won the Maroc and then flew to Brazil to resume the WCR. http://www.citroenet.org.uk/sport/ds-rally-cars-01.html is interesting about DS in rallies. | 2013-02-20 16:23

ALAIN ![]() | IT IS NOT A BONNET AND FACE LIFT OF CITROEN. I have never seen in france this model with RHD. | 2009-07-22 16:51
sixcyl ![]() | Not a Simca 8, but a Simca 5 | 2009-04-18 13:53
DynaMike ![]() | By the size, the shape of the rear and the split front bumper rather Ardea, not Aprilea. Seems to have a one-piece rear window, no rib in the centre of the roof, and no rubber strips on the bumper yet: terza serie from 1948/49. Chignative ![]() | Those holes were for fog lights. Covered in plexiglass. Don't know if Oscars would fit in there, but They were an improvement over the Boulle phares on the bonnet. I own and drive this exact model, and a Belgian friend showed me his. However, it doesn't work if you have air conditioning. Manuel also has them. Nice guy. www.lunaya.fr |

garco ![]() | How to list that? | 2008-07-28 22:55
rpcm ![]() | I would say this one with the two-tone paint and extra chrome trim is the Phase VIIIA introduced September 1955. | 2007-11-12 01:08
Ray B. ![]() | I don't think it's correct to call it a 1955. Technically, it's a 1956 model. It was indeed introduced at the Salon de l'Auto on october 6th 1955, but all the american makes introduced their new models, 1956 in that example, in september or october of the preceding year, 1955 here. So this is a 1956. There a no 1955 Continental Mark II | 2007-10-11 12:32
chris40 ![]() | Wasn't this the Chrysler Norseman, that went down with the Andrea Doria in 1956? Quote from Wikipedia on the Andrea Doria: 'The sinking produced a footnote in automotive history, as it resulted in the loss of the Chrysler Norseman, an advanced "one-off" prototype car which had been built for Chrysler by Ghia in Italy. The Norseman had been announced as a major attraction of the 1957 auto show circuit. However, it had not been shown to the public prior to the disaster, and was lost, along with other cars in the Doria's 50-car garage including a Rolls Royce.' I thought the Norseman looked rather more radical than the one in the main picture, and I found this: http://www.imperialclub.com/Articles/GhiaStory/Ghia222-reg.jpg -- Last edit: 2007-10-07 21:26:16 |

Indygo ![]() | For some reason I'm looking at the blcak one one the left. I think that one's a concept car. I have a two great books on concept cars (I'll have to dig one of them up). Story of this concept: Car was being shipped from Karmmen Ghia facilities to De Soto plant. Unfortunately, the ocean liner carrying it sunk(!). It was the copy and the design was also lost. |

Weasel1984 ![]() | Yes but it is the same like here: /vehicle_127401-Simca-Vedette-Regence-1955.html and similar to our discussion about this Mazda: /vehicle_117266-Mazda-RX-7-1981.html Now with 1956 year it is just one of many DS's on the site. I'm not sure, but I would tell that this car is a bit different than serial Citroens, for example seems the indicator's trumpets are bigger. |

DynaMike ![]() | Et voici une autre Dyna [Z]: /vehicle_127467-Simca-8.html | 2007-09-27 11:55
DynaMike ![]() | Of course the DS dates from 1955, but since it was presented in October it still would be model year 1956. | 2007-09-27 11:48
bref ![]() | I believed th "Faux Cabriolet" where the most rare |

antp ![]() | These early models are not very common I guess | 2007-09-23 15:39
crazyforcars12 ![]() | Wow, this is interesting. | 2007-09-23 15:30
Weasel1984 ![]() | As I wrote and as you can see this Simca was named by producer 'model '56', but I think I would be nice to list it like now and to know that it is the very early one, maybe even pre-series(?). -- Last edit: 2007-09-23 15:26:11 |
2007-09-23 15:22 | ||
antp ![]() | Usually we use the "model year" if the documentations uses it. So for US cars it is always model year (as the cars are known with these years and not the first build year), but for other cars it depends on the make. -- Last edit: 2007-09-23 15:13:15 |
2007-09-23 15:12 | ||
Weasel1984 ![]() | Yes, but you know it is same like for example with Escort Mk.3 - introduced in 1980, m.y. 1981, but actually in English movies we have a lot of them listed with year 1980 (because of plates). Anyway it could be a good question what is the most important for us - model year, year of manufacture or year of first registration (the last one only in such countries like UK, when plates usually aren't changed)? -- Last edit: 2007-09-23 15:25:11 |

Weasel1984 ![]() | There is no other 7 A on the site? | 2007-09-23 14:50
Weasel1984 ![]() | Ok, but one of these - which was the most rare. | 2007-09-23 14:48
Weasel1984 ![]() | It is even interesting documentary mainly becasue of the archive footages. There is not many technical infos, dates (well is only one - 1955 ) etc. the point of view is rather what the car was (is) for its homeland and French people. |

DIEHARD ![]() | Perhaps, I am not really sure.. | 2007-09-21 20:00
DIEHARD ![]() | I would love to see the 22CV also, yet I do not think it is among these cars... all cars have the lights above the front wing, whilst the 22cv had them in the fron wing. But anyway even if there is not a 22cv it is still anice collection of rare Tractions...!! |
2007-09-21 19:59 | ||
DIEHARD ![]() | This is a really nice find Weasel!!! |
2007-09-21 19:55 | ||
DIEHARD ![]() | Very nice Weasel ![]() |
2007-09-21 14:33 | ||
58roadmaster ![]() | No, I thought the "grey with black roof" was the car pictured in the middle. The top pic appears green, but color is hard to tell with aged film. For our purposes the colors we are seeing in the frame could be used to help point out an individual car to other members. And I wasn't agreeing that I thought it was a Diplomat. I didn't know, only to show that some years of DeSoto Diplomats used more Plymouth parts and other years used more Dodge parts. Sorry for any mixup. |

Citsa ![]() | Late forties/ early fifties Renault; looks like a R3044 or R3045. See http://www.renaultoloog.nl/landbouw-english.htm | 2007-09-19 22:22
Ray B. ![]() | Buc84, you got me a little confused with your Gray & Black, Pink & Black and so on. But I am talking about, as asked by Weasel1984, of the "Grey one with black roof (top of the pic)". I won't speak for 58roadmaster though. I re-checked my Desoto book. This single chrome pear could be had on Firedome and Fireflite models as well. And again, this is NOT a Plymouth or Diplomat. It's very hard to judge the real dimensions of a car, or whatever, in a film frame. You have to account with focal lenght, lens distrotion... For instance, if the car on the left is truly a Lincoln, isn't it a bit small compared to the DeSoto in front ? Here a short focal length was used, so the apparent size of objects in the background decreases very fast. |
2007-09-19 10:40 | ||
Buc84 ![]() | We "are" all talking about the same car,right?? There's two cars here that are definately a De Soto.(A 2-Tone Gray one,bottom right & another 2-Tone one to this cars left & slightly behind it)The one I've refered to trying to ID is the one at the very top of the pic,to the left of the 2nd De Soto that is either Gray & Black,or maybe Pink & Black?? This car is either also Gray & Black,2-Tone Gray,or 2-Tone Green?? "This" car is slightly smaller,and looks very "Plymouth"...or 'Export Model' De Soto?? | 2007-09-19 04:59
58roadmaster ![]() | you're right, dug out my Chrysler books and that single chrome spear without a color fill ahead of the front door puzzles me. My book says that Fireflite 4 door sedans with that kind of trim are very rare. Can't tell if that trim could be had on a Firedome. The emblem on the rear quarter panel is a "\8/" and there would be a "Sportsman" script to the right of it if this was a pillarless hardtop. -- Last edit: 2007-09-19 03:55:30 |

Ray B. ![]() | It's not a Diplomat. Diplomat had rear fins that were strictly Plymouth, in continuity with the top of the doors. You can see here that they havea typical DeSoto bulge on the rear quarters. I'n not good enough at DeSoto side trim to tell what model though. | 2007-09-18 19:52
antp ![]() | It does not look so bad I think. Thinks like the coupé Ricou look much stranger. | 2007-09-17 18:31
58roadmaster ![]() | A couple of Youtube finds for DeSoto Diplomat 1960: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e09ZhBjgaek 1958: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBV4gTt5Fc0 In the 1960 you basically have a Dodge Saratoga, Matador, or Dart Phoenix with DeSoto side trim. In the 1958 (music video) it is a DeSoto grille and body with Plymouth side trim. -- Last edit: 2007-09-17 12:35:35 |
