993cc ![]() | Minor correction: it's Piironen. The car was built by Michelotto to Group B specs. These cars were built in 1983 on earlier chassis (1 of the 4 built used the old 2v engine, the other three the 4v QV). This particular car had the 'proper' QV engine (good for 320 hp..) So this I believe should be a 1983 308 GTBi QV Group B or simply a 308 GTB Group B. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henri_Toivonen https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelotto_Automobili Link to "i.pinimg.com" edit: deleted that they were based on QV chassis because they.. weren't as I found out. All 15 Michelotto rally cars (11 Gr.4 + 4 Gr.B) were #18xxx to about #31xxx chassis so 1975-82 cars. BUT they were built as racecars later, the Gr. B versions in 1983. Maybe that is more important. -- Last edit: 2020-04-06 23:58:53 |

dsl ![]() | Executive rear badge (probably). Brighton sea front?? (so RAC Rally footage??) | 2013-08-09 02:37 | ||
dsl ![]() | G1 probably = Group 1 so fairly standard to a homologated spec. But this is intriguing as a 2 door with the newer Chrysler trim, which I don't think had a boyracer production version (like the previous Hillman 1600cc GT 2 door did). There were a couple of experimental works specs at the time such as an Avenger BRM (ie BRM-tuned UK engine) and versions built around the 1800cc and 2000cc Brazilian blocks, but am unsure if these could fit Group 1. But homolgated specs can create some unexpected combinations, so I'll see if I can dig further. Also the red livery is unusual - maybe a local car, not works?? Another possibility is 1300cc for lower class group - there was an export 1300 GT in some countries. #25, finished 5th, Group 1 winner. Also listed as a Sunbeam on some results sites - seems there were a few Avengers in the rally interchangeably recorded as Sunbeam or Chrysler. -- Last edit: 2013-08-10 02:37:47 |

Weasel1984 ![]() | Info IMPDb entry Finally I get the complete copy of this documentary, so after 7 years the page has been updated = quite many new/missing cars have been added and all old pics have been replaced by the better quality ones.Like you can see in the 1st link above, origins of this documentary are Italian, but it looks like the final shape with commentary etc. it got in Great Britain (previously those were just footages it seems). Just in case, I put the Italian title as alternative (well a part of it). -- Last edit: 2013-08-09 00:10:49 |
