CougarTim ![]() | As a hardtop it is either a 1974 Fury Gran Sedan or a 1975 Gran Fury. The Fury hardtop sedan was dropped for 1976. -- Last edit: 2014-01-08 21:17:26 |

somename ![]() | I think it's a Gran Fury per the c-pillar badge. Being a hardtop sedan it could still be a 74. | 2014-01-08 19:57
CougarTim ![]() | At http://pics.imcdb.org/12851/snap211.3.jpg it has Fury taillights. | 2014-01-08 19:45
rtsbusman1997 ![]() | Actually that is where the pct. number and the NYPD seal used to be. |

Ford_Guy ![]() | I still have my doubts about it being an NYPD car but after viewing the scene, rts' assessment might be right. The only cars visible were Caprices and Plymouth Furys, which fall in line with what the NYPD used in the 80's. Assuming it was an NYPD scrap yard, the producers definitely added damaged non-NYPD light bars to every one of the cars visible. I assume this was to make them look more "police-like." | 2013-12-29 20:39
Q-Ball ![]() | Yes, indeed a 9C1 but not an NYPD model. There were many cuts in the opening montage of the police scrapyard, and I have a feeling that this particular scene was filmed in Los Angeles using a salvaged 9C1 model. Look at how messy the white stripe has been applied. A last-minute props department job. And they used whatever lightbar they could find that remotely resembled an NYPD one. | 2013-12-29 17:35
charger1968 ![]() | Yes, it was 1987+ grille. Now, I remember this scene ![]() |
2013-12-29 14:16 | ||
rtsbusman1997 ![]() | Yea, that grille was a 1987+ grille. | 2013-12-29 10:06
charger1968 ![]() | Any other shots to this car? When I saw this movie,I remember that we can see grille of this Caprice in this scene ![]() |
2013-12-29 09:51 | ||
charger1968 ![]() | I think this is 1973-1976 Chevrolet C-10. | 2013-12-29 09:46
rtsbusman1997 ![]() | Spotlight hole. Besides, the entire title credits took place at a real NYPD yard, most likely the one located at Floyd Bennett Field. |
2013-12-29 01:49 | ||
Ford_Guy ![]() | There was no possible year range before that somebody had commented on. To the uninitiated, just having a car labeled as a 1986 without a comment on the entire possible year range could make it look like it's being identified specifically as a 1986 model. | 2013-12-29 01:45
police car fan ![]() | What's the point of giving a yearrange when i already had one when i posted the car @Mister car? ![]() |

Q-Ball ![]() | that seems to be commonplace in NYPD-featuring movies. Those lightbars had a setting where the two flashers would be on a constant shine. | 2013-12-29 00:29
