antp BEWho added "made for ZA" info to lots of these cars? Are there specific details on these? Or was it just added because the movie is made there? (which is not a good reason :p) 2007-01-31 10:44

Perhaps it's because Mercedes and Volkswagen both have factories in South Africa.

antp BEBut it is only a supposition: there is nothing in the name or as visual details that allows to say that it is a ZA-version of the car (for what is this field) 2007-01-31 13:57

"Made for ZA" is in most cases incorrect and should be "Made in ZA" (if necessary to specify), since Mercedes, Volkswagen, BMW, General Motors (for Opel, Daewoo-based Chevs, Hummers, Isuzu), Nissan, Toyota, Fiat, Ford, Mazda, Mitsubishi and still a few others have factories here, and vehicle exporting is one of the main foreign revenue earners for ZA.

Believe me, antp, that it is in most cases very easy to distinguish it as a ZA-built car if you know the differences (mostly necessitated by conditions that differ vastly from the native countries of the vehicle, such as heat, dust, rough roads, vast distances, etc.) As indicated above, I don't believe it is always necessary to distinguish it as ZA built, except if the fact that it is has special relevance.

DynaMike NLI agree with you, Citsa. I think there should be three 'origin'-entries: 1. Origine, 2. Made in, 3. Made for. As an exemple (not concerning this movie) a Citroën 2CV AZUL 'Week-End' with indicators on top of the front fenders would be: 1. Origine France, 2. Made in Belgium, 3. Made for Switzerland... 2007-05-20 00:47
antp BE"Made for" indicates a special name or detail visible on the car, as I said above.
The built location of the car is currently not included in vehicle info on the site. The problem is that this field will often be difficult to fill, and not interesting in many cases.
