4/44 or 15/50, how do you tell the 2 apart?

1) Count the auxiliary lamps, 1 on a 4/44; 2 on a 15/50.
2) The chrome strip on the side is straight on a 4/44 and stops at the trailing edge of the front door but droops slightly on a 15/50 and continues onto the rear door.
3) Open the bonnet and see if it has an XP type 1250cc engine or a B Series 1489cc engine.
4) Read the badges.

15/50.

Nicely understated, elegant Gerald Palmer design also used on the MG Magnette Z-series.

Two edged sword for me, lovely car to drive for its time but a sow's ear to work on. I once put a new clutch in one having rebuilt the engine which is a devil to get at and found I couldn't release the clutch. I worked out that I must have put the driven plate in back to front, so decided to work underneath and remove the gearbox instead, no fun either! Ever since then I have been most careful with clutch plates.
