I agree. The style of the grill is what I think makes this Volare a 1978 model. My parents had a 1977 Volare Station Wagon. They got it brand new...but it was the WORST car they ever had!! :/ It would never stay running, and continually die. No matter how many times my dad had it in the shop the problem never went away. After about a year they got rid of it. I think it had to do with the 70's gas crisis and the Chrysler Corp. was trying to create these engines that supposedly would run leaner and use less gas. However, from what I've heard and read in the past, this was the problem...the cars ran too lean and the engine couldn't get the gas it needed. 1976 was the first year of the Plymouth Volare and its counterpart the Dodge Aspen. There were only 3 more model years (1977-1979) and then Chrysler called it quits with 'em. I'm not saying every Volare or Aspen ran this way or was crap...but from what I understand and have read they were never considered that great or reliable.

I believe '78 and '79 carried the same grille pattern.
My grandmother had a Volare (don't recall the year) and it ran fine.

Some Volares/Aspens ran fine, I'm sure. I just know my parent's was bad and my aunt and uncle had one too and it had the same problem my parent's had. They got rid of theirs even before my parents got rid of ours! Some ran okay and others didn't. They just weren't considered that reliable or the gas-saving car Chrysler originally hoped they would be.
