It can't be. That's not a Mitsubishi L-300, but an Isuzu Fargo/Midi, or whatever it was called in ZA. Edit : it was called WFR. http://www.imgrum.net/media/1418257218125912725_1636438300 -- Last edit: 2017-01-20 21:58:40 |

That caught my attention as Husky was a Rootes name, and ZA made their own unique Hillman Hunter pick-up (not the same conversion as the Paykaan pick-up in Iran) which was sold as Dodge Husky from 1975. Followed various wiki links and apparently Chrysler ZA sold out to Sigma Motor Corporation which in turn merged with Ford South Africa to create the South African Motor Corporation, known as Samcor, who continued to build Ford, Mazda and Mitsubishi. So presumably the rights to the Husky name were inherited by Sigma and then Samcor. So a Rootes-jewel name ended up 40(?) years later on a Japanese-origin van. |
