A couple of Austins, maybe?

Interesting find, especially as a matching pair. Are they traceable?? If not, someone else can decide if Austin, Morris, BMC, or Leyland.

Both have got driver side scuttle window painted over or filled in, but normal glass on nearside. I wonder why?

Expensive to replace?
When you think of it these were way ahead of their time with kerbside windows.
Last few years have seen them fitted to many new trucks to spot cyclists and pedestrians.

Perhaps female drivers didn't want people seeing them from that angle.

Modesty panels on desks yes but ambulance drivers don't normally wear mini skirts I think!

Found on two other ambulances (patient transport in all cases). A guess. Some sort of ventilation - air inlet?
Or some sort of equipment or storage on the inside of the cab?

By enlarging one picture, it appears the raised part is a separate panel, not formed from the inset panel itself.

So I'm assuming so far that its possible it can be opened or hinged to provide additional ventilation?

These panels are one of the things I notice on FGs, as pretty well all UK builds have both windows glassed, but HK market trucks and other local bodies always have them both painted/panelled. Spanish build Sava FGs throw in a third permutation - all trucks have UK-style twin glassed, but local coachbuild coaches (!) remove the window outline completely so are solid. Australian FGs repeat the Spanish scenario (although with big trucks instead of coaches as the solid equivalent).
