Thanks. It's a Cruiser, and therefore not a Lark. Studebaker separated the Cruiser and Standard lines from the Lark name for model year 1963. By 1964, the Lark name had officially disappeared completely except for in a couple of early advertising brochures. |

Vehicles imported into Australia were very often different to their origin models in terms of naming, trim levels, and features. There were usually far fewer models (sometimes only one), and the ones we had here were sometimes hybrids of the US / Canadian / UK parent models, or a year or so behind the model changes in the parent country. For example, the Australian version of a particular model may have had a base-model name-plate, but mid-range name-plate exterior trim. This model was definitely sold as a Lark ( or "Lark Cruiser") here. Yeah, Aussie models are a bit weird! I think that some 1963 Aussie Larks had the "Lark" badging on the front fender, and the "Cruiser" script in the chrome trim on the rear fender. Our 1958 Customline used 1955 Meteor side-trim, our 1965 Falcon used the 1963 Mercury Comet front clip (diferent grille and headlights), the 1960's Aussie-assembled Beetles were four to five years behind the German-assembled ones in some features, and up to date in others, etc. Gets a bit confusing! |
