Isn't it a Lada Samara (red)?

I agree on Samara, must be quite rare in Australia, not?

Six cars - from left nearest the prison; big late '70s Ford - Fairlane or maybe LTD, '80s Nissan pickup, Lada Samara. From lwft in front; Holden Commodore VB about 1981, Volvo 144?, Holden Kingswood HX mid to late '70s.

I would list the Holden Kingswood, as it is not so common on the site, not so recent for the movie year, and well visible.

Back row are: Ford Fairlane ZH 1976-78, Nissan Navara 1992-96, Lada Samara
Front Row are: Holden Commodore VC (not VB) 1980-81, Volvo 240 or 244, and Holden Kingswood HX, 1976-7

Unfortunately in the widescreen version, the 3 cars in the front row mostly get cut off.

So I think it would be better to keep the old pic here ;)

:hello: Worth to list due its extreme rarity. I cannot find any "made for AUS"-Lada at all!

I spy Ford Fairlane [ZH] here.

Davez621 a écrit Maybe, but for consistency it would probably be better to use the HD shot, plus that is the more technically correct version as it was shown in cinemas that way. Perhaps the widescreen HD shot as the main pic with the other one in the comments section?

Even if the rest of the movie uses the HD pictures, for this one I find more logical to do the other way round, as not much is seen on the HD pic

Davez621 a écrit I guess P&S 4:3 has some pluses :)

Indeed, here they made a different P&S for 4:3 and widescreen, cutting a different par in both cases; I guess they had some margin top & bottom for not having to cut too much in the widescreen frame: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_and_protect

It is not a AUS-specific version, so even if we list this one there would still be no "made for AUS" Lada :p

ok., do we have any Ladas IN Australia? :??:

That's a good question. I've never even heard of Lada in Australia.

Wiki says Ladas were sold in Australia from 1984 to 1996. They sold well initially but sales tailed off. Five door Samaras were sold as Cevaro and Saloons as Sable.

We have a Lada (also a red Samara) in the 1980s Mission: Impossible revival, which was filmed in Australia, but not surprisingly that show does feature vehicles that weren't sold in Australia.

P.S. Also a Niva:

So can we agree, that this Lada is
a) worth to list due its rarity
b) "made for AUS" would be correct, too, as it has an unique name there

Unless it is a three-door, in which case the name remains Samara.
