58pacer ◊ 2008-05-14 07:55	Car was owned by Max Miller of Laguna Beach, California. It was not originally this tri-tone scheme of white, pink and black...Edsel offered no tri-tone paint schemes in 1959 or 1960. Mr. Miller also provided a white and pink 1958 Citation convertible for the drive-in movie scene near the end of this same film. Rumor has it that this 1959 Corsair suffered a catastrophic end during a towing mishap in the California desert near Yuma, Arizona many years later. I sold a ceramic 1:24 scale 1959 Edsel convertible to the production company for use in this film. Although it was not revealed to me at the time, I presume with 20:20 hindsight that they were considering using a scale model in the parachuting-off-the-cliff scene. From what I later heard through the grapevine, the scene was finally filmed with the vinyl-coated fabric top of the real car removed and replaced with the parachute prop, so what you see here in the screen grab is the same actual car "falling" off the cliff. Prop crews saw to it that the top was restored to its original condition after the wrap. -- Last edit: 2008-05-14 08:55:31
IHateFreedom ◊ 2008-11-30 01:10	During the parachute top scene, you can see the top open twice. My dad never liked this film; when I asked him what kind of car this was, he said "It's an Edsel...just like this movie."
