By the plate and the bumpers I suspect a 240 but I would wait for the contribution of friends more experts about Jags. I read in an old and very well made book about the classic Jaguar saloons that very late Mk IIs were fitted with these bumpers. too. -- Last edit: 2016-08-22 15:50:12 |

As far as I know these bumpers were fitted on both 240 and 340. |

Oh, yes. 240 and 340 were identical, with the exception of the rear scripts. |

Jaguar 240 or 340 production from September 1967, yes, from the bumpers and without the 'Jaguar 2.4/3.4' (series II) script over the number plate housing. The 240 outsold the 340 by almost 2:1. 'F' registered August 1967 to July 1968, 'TYF' series probably about September 1967 to January 1968. |

Only because it was in production for longer - 340 was dropped for XJ6 launch in Sept 68 while 240 stayed around until demand dribbled away in mid-69. Early sales were fairly level, so for 67 into 68 chances are probably similar. (In the end the Daimler 250 V8 outsold both 240 and 340, again because it hung around for longest until the XJ6-based Sovereign was launched in Oct 69.) But default as 240 is usual practice so fine to stay as is. |
