This scene was a reenactment of the murders of the Slater and Morrill paymaster, Frederick Parmenter and security guard, Alessandro Berardelli who were both shot during the robbery of the payroll for Slater and Morrill Shoe Factory that occurred near the Slater and Morrill Factory on Pearl Street in South Braintree, Massachusetts on the afternoon of the 15th April 1920.

The investigation revealed that on the afternoon of the robbery and murder, two American Express guards met the morning train travelling from Boston where they signed for an iron box from the guard's van containing $27,000, the weekly wages for the two of the factories, the Slater and Morrill Shoe Factory and the Rice and Hutchins Shoe Factory and took the iron box to their office at Hampton House across from the railway station.

As the guards reached their office, one of the guards noticed a dark coloured shiny Buick sedan parked across from the Hampton House and also noticed a thin fair-haired man standing in a doorway watching.

Short time later, Parmenter and Berardelli left the Slater and Morrill Factory and met with the guards at the Hampton House and took their share of the wages in two boxes and left the Hampton House at 3pm where they were seen by the guards turning onto Pearl Street, across the level crossing where they stopped to talk to one of the railway workers, James Bostock before heading towards the Slater and Morrill.

As they passed the Rice and Hutchins Factory, they crossed the street where two tall stocky men were standing and as they were approaching the two men, the two men pulled pistol and shot both Parmenter and Berardelli, Berardelli was hit once and collapsed, Parmenter turned to run but was hit twice in the back, the two men grabbed the cash boxes and jumped into the Buick, a third man on the Buick's running board jumped off and started firing shots towards witnesses.

As the car sped off, the gate keeper attempted to stop the car by lowering the level crossing barrier but was forced at gunpoint to raise the barrier before the vehicle sped off in the direction towards West Bridgewater and Brockton.

Berardelli was killed instantly, while Parmenter was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.

The Buick used in the robbery and murders, was later identified as the same one used in a robbery at West Bridgewater, 20 miles south of South Braintree in December 1919.

The Buick was later dumped in the woods at West Bridgewater, two days after the South Braintree Robbery on the 17th April 1920.
