This may be locally assembled, but it is not an Austin Maxi.

It is a Morris Nomad, based on the ADO 16 shell, with a hatchback and the Maxi power unit but a four speed transmission.

If in doubt, look at the doors.

1969-72, designed in UK at Longbridge but only built in Aus - http://ado16.info/morris_1500.shtml , http://www.elevenhundred.com/morris1500/history.php . Nice find, even if an ugly mutant. Maxi was never sold or made in Aus (although it did go to NZ).
