I'm pretty sure Metropolitan Police cars don't have fleet numbers, at least not visible ones.

In UK it was called Granada mk3, no?

Originally Granada Mk3 in UK, with Scorpio the top model, above Ghia. Then re-branded just Scorpio, following mild facelift in 1990.

From what I have read previously only the mk2 Scorpio (1994) used the Scorpio name in UK.

antp, you are indeed correct. I think I may have misrecalled an article from the early 90s announcing that the then Granada mk3 would just be available as the Granada Scorpio for the final couple of years of production until the boggle-eyed mk 2 Scorpio came out in '94.

The vehicle details for G407 HWN are:

Date of Liability 16 12 2003
Date of First Registration 17 08 1989
Year of Manufacture 1989
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2933CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour WHITE
Vehicle Type Approval null

So it's 1989, not 1986.

UK "Scorpio" only was from 1995 (bug eye saloon) surely ?
Police car is GHIA X spec

I have driven a 1987 (I think - it had a cherished registration) Granada Mk3 Scorpio, which was badged as such.
(Sorry, Antoine :/)

:??: sorry for what? Scorpio was just a trim level, no? Or you mean that it was badged as just Scorpio and not Granada ?

Sorry because I understood you to say only the bugeye Scorpio was sold as such in the UK, and I knew that the top trim level of the Mk3 was badged as Granada Scorpio. The individual who lent it to me (for his own reasons) hated to have it referred to as a Granada.

These were made in UK? If yes, are we sure about the German origin in this case? Of course I don't want say that Germans didn't work on this, as for sure they did, but maybe it was some co-operation (I have similar question about the Sierras). I think that to 1990's "British Ford" was still a quite active part of the European Ford, but can be wrong about it.

We should probably list these as EU rather than DE/UK

Even if I'm not a big fan of this "EU origin", I have to say that Ford is the make to which it somehow fits the best (of course we are talking about the cars made since late 1960's or even 1970's as origin of first Escort is obvious), on the other hand, personally I prefer the method of Stronghold - with 2 origins.
I simply would like to know what happend with the British branch and how it was in the 1980's, as indeed since 1990's European Fords seems to be mainly German, even if are made in different countries.

That would be more logical for the "made in" field then.

I still believe that it is possible to check which model in which country was exactly designed, and even if some are "child" of both, maybe it isn't worthwhile to include the entire continent in this, as it was (or is) mainly co-operation of two countries only.

I'm saying it was NOT "re-branded just Scorpio, following mild facelift in 1990." - but in 1995 when bugeye was launched
Pre 95 Granada scorpio was as we all know top trim level. With bugeye Scorpio replaced Granada as model - and top trim was Ultima
