 I wouldn't say so, they're not that rare in Canada. The EL was actually Acura's top seller in Canada for almost its whole production run, according to Wikipedia.

yes we did...and i saw more than my share of both to call it Acura EL :)
the Protegé you are referring to is 1995-1996 ( 1997-1998 had it right aside the headlight ) and has turn signal in the bumper and not under like the EL

 Wrong chassis code. [MB4] is the 1997-2000. [ES3] is for the 2001-2005 models with the D17 VTEC (but as we know with Honda the code depends on the drivetrain/motor).
