"STOP POLICE" sign comes up on a string-operated blind as it pulls in. Last thumb has slight glimpse of boot badge. As presented onscreen, it pulls in in front of YO 678 as it wobbles along, but does not match either of the 2 overtaking vehicles in that sequence. I looked at our recent police Railton find but too many differences - hood-irons, both doors here are rear-hinged, bodywork profiles - for exact match. |

It isn't an Austin badge http://www.austinsevenfriends.com/Bruce/Components_of_the_Austin_Badge.htm in the last thumb? |

Looks like a '36-37 six-cylinder Hillman with an uncommon bodywork. Could be either a Sixteen or – more probably – a Hawk. Rear view of a Sixteen. Notice the badge on the bootlid... -- Last edit: 2016-05-01 19:46:22 |

Fortengo: I think that's a good call. If you look at the changes to the body of the Railton to accommodate the radio equipment, smaller back window, leathercloth roof, it would fit. |

Related, dsl, though this is another 'sedan' with landau irons. A wonderful selection of Hawks, nonetheless, here on the Database. Any venerable classic I would buy fitted with a rear window blind, you could guarantee the ruddy thing wouldn't work. Romantic but unserviceable, notably after damp had penetrated the (beige) West of England cloth. -- Last edit: 2016-07-02 03:04:39 |
