Usually Aranos in Spanish-speaking countries. Isn't that the KDM badge? |

From US wiki (not sure if accurate): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daewoo_Espero#The_South_American_Market |

The reason was rather that it means "I wait" which made it sound like it was unreliable. |

Thanks! Argentina received this model as early as 1994. Found a few for sale on Mercado Libre. I believe the front badge was present on all of them. I added a 'Made For' tag as that trim did not show up on wikipedia when I looked up the model. Says it was built on the [GM-J] platform too which I did not know Daewoo used. |

Yes, this was based on J platform and styled by Bertone, once I read that its design was a rejected proposal for the Citroen Xantia. In South Korea it debuted as early as 1990, but main export began in 1994. Italy got them from March 1995 until June 1998 and in 1997 was one of the first cars to offer an official optional LPG conversion (done in Italy by the importer). At the time Daewoo were based on GM/Opel products, like the Racer was a slightly different Opel Kadett E (in USA you had this model as Pontiac LeMans) and the bigger ones were based on the Opel Rekord. From what I see googling, South America got the KDM style badging (front and rear) and not the European one ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-09-20 12:34:00 |
