Wikipedia says the Cressidas assembled in New Zealand had 2.0 litre engines. However, the Cressida was available in Australia with the 2.8 litre 6-cylinder engine (with chassis code MX62 due to non-IRS). I suppose it was produced in Australia ?

Mmhhh, the question is, since what time New Zealand was flooded with used cars from Japan and Hongkong, so it may a JDM car.
When I've been in NZ in 1998, the local car assembling was already collapsed.

The series was filmed in Australia, where JDM imports are severely restricted, not in New Zealand. Anyway, I'm quite sure this isn't a JDM import. Metallic paint, no window protector metal bar in the loading bay...

Not built in Australia. Cressidas have always been imported.
