'51 or '52. Difficult to tell apart. |

Can't tell the model or year on this picture. Any 1951 or 52 would look like that... |

I will watch it and check. Results: The car is parked to the right of the rooftop stage the band uses. Roof is white. Best possible view is at 4:58 of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no0hzFx9sfY&feature=related My guess is 51 Special Riviera 45R Grille here looks like 1951, the individual bars have a gradual curve to them. -- Last edit: 2008-05-06 20:50:47 |

A correction nearly 4 years in the making: Model should be 46R, no such animal as 45 anything in the Buick lineup! Typo. -- Last edit: 2010-01-15 11:58:54 |

I know there is a difference in the grille bar count between '51 and '52 but can't recall what it is. One year had fewer bars than the other. |

OK. Did some quick research. The 1951 Buick had 25 vertical grille bars while the '52 only had 19. Can't count all the bars on the photo'ed car since some are hidden but it appears to have too few based on the spacing to be 25, so I believe this is a 1952 model. |

This piece of information is useful in many instances. Another way to tell the difference is the arc or curve to each individual grille bar. The 51's have a very gradual curve, while the 52 bars have parts were there is no curve at all, that is they are completely vertical. Please see the change in my earlier comment from year 2010. -- Last edit: 2010-01-21 07:18:54 |
