"David informs me that in 1987 he bought the black Amphicar registration NMU10E in an auction in Dorset, the previous owner lived around the Milborne area. It has now been fully restored and is painted red. Do you have any information about this car or do you remember it been driven around the local villages........The Amphicar was recently used to rescue people in the floods in David’s local village." - from http://www.dorset-connect.co.uk/milborne/msa_news.htm So the 1991 date may indicate when it reappeared on the road (or canal??) after restoration.
