Probably the roof gotten chopped off. I think this may be 1973 or later Volkswagen Super Bug for the Australia market ![]() |

LHD, so rather an imported 1303? But, wasn't it too young in 1993 to be street legal with LHD? |

It seems to be Volkswagen L like the Australian CKDs would have. But then again not even the front and rear number plates are matching. |

Yes, it's a cobbled selfmade-wannabe-Cabriolet-clunker, based on a LHD 1303, so no Aussie-spec Super Bug. No Super Beetle either, as there are no American applications. The AUS-typical "Volkswagen L"-badge was put later on it, maybe the complete engine-lid. It's no original paintwork either, widely similar to "mayametallic", but not the original tone. Does it even have a cloth-roof? It looks rather like a tarpaulin. Maybe there is something roof-similar underneath, but it's definitely not original Karmann-made, nor the aftersales market "Sonnenland"-roof. it seems, that it has two different back wings. On the main pic it seems, the elephant-foots are not in the same level. -- Last edit: 2015-12-28 20:00:44 |
