... M3 or M3 A1? (What about those vents?) For if "M3 A1", not White but Autocar or Diamond T. (And couldn't it be a M2?) -- Last edit: 2015-12-05 16:22:27 |

never seen those vents so could be easy part of the civilian conversion removing the originals for better cooling/ lower weight see this , some where converted to crane carriers http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/500/halftrack2.jpg http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=126459 -- Last edit: 2015-12-05 16:23:50 |

All right. But why call it a "M3 A1"? (I see you gave only "M3" name.) I mean, why not "M3" or even "M2"? And what were those sent to the USSR? (The movie being Finnish, there is a good chance this machine has landed here through Soviet Union.) -- Last edit: 2015-12-05 16:38:27 |

Late reply but US Half tracks sent to the USSR for Lend Lease were the M5-M9-M17 International Harvester ones. Not the M3s in general. There's no reason to assume that Finland didn't buy the plentiful M3s on the open market, post WW2 |
