1958 or 1959 Chevrolet Viking |

Part of the 1955-59 Task-Force truck line, with indeed the 1958-59 front face and the 1958 only hood end and fender emblems. If I'm not mistaken, nothing in this picture can help to differentiate a medium-duty Viking (40 or 60 model name) from a heavy-duty Spartan (80 / 100). ⇒ 1958 Chevrolet Task-Force |

You no longer assumed your previous comment and deleted it, supcoach? ![]() For you to understand your error: Chevrolet used "subline" names for its 1958-61 trucks: • light-duty trucks were Apaches: ∗ 1958-59 Task-Force Apache 31/32/36/38; ∗ 1960-61 C-10/C-20/C-30/C-40 Apache (the 1½-ton Chassis-cab C-40 had the light-duty cab for this generation of truck, but was dropped in 1963). • medium-duty trucks were Vikings: ∗ 1958-59 1½-ton and 2-ton Task-Force Viking 40, 50, 60 (50 were Low Cab Forward/COE models); ∗ 1960-61 2-ton C-50 & C-60 Viking (but all medium-duty models were Vikings, including the concerned versions of the then new Tilt-Cab and LCF L-Series). • the Spartan name was used for heavy-duty models: ∗ 1958-59 Task-Force Spartan 70, 80, 90 and 100 (all 2½-ton? 70 & 90 are LCF/COE models); ∗ 1960-61 2½-ton C-70 & C-80 Spartan (once more, the Spartan subline name was used for all heavy-duty trucks: Tilt-Cab, LCF...). Anyway, back to the truck of this page. Part of the Task-Force truck line, for the 1958-59 models: ![]() (1958 1959 Chevrolet medium- & heavy-duty Task-Force truck line brochure // 1959 version) And impossible to differentiate between medium-duty and heavy-duty models: ![]() (1959 Task-Force Viking 60? // 1959 Task-Force Spartan 100) Convinced? -- Last edit: 2015-11-24 01:44:30 |

Looking at it in detail, I could in fact be wrong in the "impossible to differentiate" part. The Dayton wheels are exclusively shown on Spartan models in the brochures. This truck is therefore most probably a heavy-duty Spartan... |

Is that a cassette tape deck in the dashboard of this M-B? |
