Not a 1979-1980 264? |

atom is right. This central grille witht these bumpers make a 264, in this case a 1980 for the mirrors. |

Identifying cars is very difficult. It's correct that most of the bigger Volvo car range got the rectangular door mirrors in 1980, but the 260 is slightly different compare to the 240's. I have a 1976 Volvo 244 DL as well, and when I bought it I tried to find as many optional extras as possible. Thus I found out that the 260's had internal adjustable door mirrors from early in production, albeit looking the same as the ones fitted on the 240's. I bought a pair, but did never use them as they broke down before I had time to fit it on the car. When trying new parts, Volvo did for quite some time, possibly now as well, introduce new products to the most expensive cars previous to the rest of the production. By that way they made sure they were reliable, and if not too expensive to repair or replace as less cars were involved. Hence the door mirrors says it's a 1979+ Volvo 264. However, the rear badge got slightly different on the 1980 model. Which makes it a 1980 MY anyway... Please compare a 1979 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/21/1979_Volvo_264_TE_rr.jpg with a 1980 http://www.k-jet.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/IMG_2811.jpg . -- Last edit: 2015-11-13 11:19:31 |
