They were built from 1937 till 1939 (the coupes till 1941), and after the war between 1948 and 1955 in the Sovjet-zone of Germany, first as BMW, but soon as EMW. The EMW had a logo in red and white, instead of the traditional blue and white one. I think post-war versions had thicker bumpers, so I'd opt for 1937 as its date of birth.

BMW 327 cabriolet, indeed. They were built from 1937 till 1939 (the coupes till 1941), and after the war between 1948 and 1955 in the Sovjet-zone of Germany, first as BMW, but soon as EMW.
