Its not a hatchback, thought they were Belmonts? |

Yes. |

Saloon was launched as Belmont Jan 86, renamed Astra Belmont Jan 89. I'm not good enough at Astra dating to attempt this one. |

This one has the 89 (late 88?)+ front grille. -- Last edit: 2015-10-25 17:50:54 |

not "made for IRL" then? |
◊ 2015-10-26 19:12 |
Why so? |

because in this version, with these headlights, before the export to Japan stopped, Ireland was -and is nowadays- the only RHD-Opel-country at all (the ZA-derivates doesn't count, because they were assembled there and have a plenty of differences). -- Last edit: 2015-10-26 19:24:41 |

It was decided long ago that RHD or RHD-related variations don't apply for the made for x-tag. |

What about the windscreen wiper position? |
◊ 2015-10-26 19:40 |
That's RHD-related in every way. |

If the world was full of RHD Opels of this type/period, made-for-IRL would have little or no meaning. But as ingo says this is a very specific single market variation, so adding it is a useful attribute to enable it to be found from the sea of "normal" Kadetts. |
