Wonder if UGT91M is still in a shed somewhere? 1973 is the first year of the 750cc Bonneville T140V and this bike is in that years factory colours of Hi-Fi Vermillion and white lined gold . Very few seem to have been kept or restored in these colours.

UGT91M is on the road , features in this months Classic Bike Guide magazine, bought for £3k at an auction by one of the magazine staff.
Would have bought it myself at that price and with Sweeney provenance !

Nice!

£3k is cheap, how many boxes did it come in?

First online MOT record is June 2016 so my 2012 comment about it being stuck in a shed not far off the mark !

It looks very tidy, a steal at £3k, maybe because it's UK spec rather than the (better looking) peanut tank Yankee models?

Apart from the usual old bike stuff I'd throw a Boyer ignition and some Mikuni VM's on it and it'll blat around for years.

In case anyone is interested, UGT 91M remains a splendid motorcycle. I christened him Big Vern, from the Viz comic character who's an East End gangster. He'd been part of a collection, and was the last of five T140s auctioned that day, which might be why the price was so low. Started up third kick, and has been providing sterling service ever since. I rode him to Shetland from the West country and back about three months after I bought him. I've changed the bars to the original UK spec ones, because I didn't like the export riding position, swapped out the worn out fork stanchions. Sadly the tank, which had been badly brush painted, sprang a leak so now he's got a replacement in antique brown, rather than Vermillion, though a respray is on the shopping list, and I fitted a seven plate clutch kit. Apart from a brake hose and a tyre, that's all he's needed. I'm planning on shipping him to the US for a coast to coast ride...
