The 288 GTO was shown at 1984 Geneva M.S.;it come out by the fusion of two different Ferrari's previous experiences:the 1977 Geneva M.S.Pininfarina studio-show car on 308 GTB(nicknamed"Millechiodi"=thousand nails, after the flared fenders with visible bolts)and an evoluted version of V-8,2 lt.engine of 1982 208 GTB Turbo(with one turbocharger),now gifted of two turbochargers(like the rival Maserati Biturbo)and engine capacity raised to 2.8 lt.(for be next at 3-lt. Class of GTCC);that unit was credited of a F.1 racer-of-period's output(400 HP!)and capable to join a top speed of 305 Km/h;but if was prewiewed the realization of only 200 ones(for be homologated into FIA's Gr.4 category),seems that actually were produced something of more(not stated of certitude, but seems digit was wawy to 250 or 300 units) -- Last edit: 2007-01-31 17:01:16 |
