Because Special had the vents on the sid of the hood. Super had them on the side of the car. |

Specials and Supers had 3 ventiports, same as the above vehicle...Roadmasters had 4 ventiports.... It is a Special because Supers had more chrome around doors, windshield area.... Appears from the brochures that this body style carried rear door vent windows in the Super series but not the Special. The subject car does not seem to have them. Listing as Special pending dissent. |

In 1950 there were two Buick Super Sedans, a model [51] on the short wheelbase (and without the third side window) and a model [52] with long wheelbase and a third side window. The LWB version was much more common (114.745 cars compared to 55.672 short wheel base models...). But still it's not sure whether this is a Super (SWB) or a Special (of which 131.396 DeLuxe sedans have been built). |
