I Think the "S-Class" denomination only started to be used from the W126 models. But then I may be seriously wrong... In that case, I think the correct name should be W108. -- Last edit: 2005-09-28 21:27:26 |

S-Classstarted back in the 60s i think but they were called SE or SEL with the engine number in front. |

By the length of the rear door it is visible that this is a SEL version, therefore [W109]. These wheels came in 1968, and with these 'non-American' headlighs it can be a 280 SEL or a 300 SEL (the differences in chrome are not well visible on a silver coloured car, maybe it can be seen in the movie what kind of suspension the car has got: normal spings: 280 SEL; air: 300 SEL). |

What shall I check in the movie to find the suspension type? |

Good question... I've seen several of these air suspensioned Mercedeses laying very low when were parked (like older hydropneumatic Citroëns), though I'm not sure if this was the normal or that these cars had problems with their suspension... |

![]() ![]() Notice in the 2nd thumbnail there is another badge on the right side of the boot lid. Maybe 6.3? |

The 6.3 was equipped as standard with double headlights. Could be a 1970 300 SEL 3.5 (air suspension, W109) or 1971 280 SEL 3.5 (steel suspension, W108). |
