Big Seven info - http://www.austinsevenownersclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=566 - "The Big Seven was introduced in July 1937 - the final major variant of the Austin Seven, and was produced alongside the Ruby until both cars were discontinued in January 1939, when they were replaced by the new Austin Eight..... The first version was the four door saloon, known as the Sixlite, type code CRV. A two door saloon, the Forlite, was then added in March 1938, type code CRW. Tourer and roadster versions were uniquely produced in Australia." But this one has a 1936 plate, about a year before launch date given in the link ..... Unless all the DGJ plates are DOJ = July 37 and Birmingham issue??? |

More likely DOJ. The works was in Birmingham, and as the car was apparently introduced in July 1937 these could be registered by them for publicity of the film. July seems a bit odd, new models generally came out after the August shutdown, which period would be used to change the tooling. Perhaps as an additional model there was no change of tooling, but another track to start up. -- Last edit: 2015-05-31 16:43:17 |
