Doesn't return anything, but similar plates come back to 1991-1992 Audis, including: AAS28N 1991 Audi AAS28S 1992 Audi AAS28U 1992 Audi As such this can be listed as 1991 too. Very rare in Aus - only 198 sold in 1991. B4 was a huge improvement over the B3 in Australia. Sales went from 198 in 1991, to 919 in 1993 and over 1500 in 1994. -- Last edit: 2023-08-30 12:48:27

After the success of 5000 et al, Audi's sales numbers were decreasing in the US with the B3 and 200 wagon, and they became more of an under-the-radar individualist brand for those who thought a Saab was too mainstream. The 90 (80) B4 brought a slight surge, but the company still wasn't really back on the ground in North America until the A4 in 96. If I had to make a guess, I'd say Audi's threebox designs - all of which originally dated back to the 1980s (A6, 90 and Cabriolet for 1995) didn't stick with the biodesign of the 90s, especially that of the American competition. -- Last edit: 2023-08-29 18:35:12
